The Mongmong festival is a significant festival for the Sangtam tribe of Nagaland, India, that celebrates the themes of togetherness, good health, and a bountiful harvest:      Meaning The festival's name means "togetherness forever".    Theme The festival's theme is to worship the house god and the three cooking stones in the fireplace.   Purpose The festival is celebrated to invoke the Supreme Being for a good harvest, prosperity, and longevity.   Activities The festival includes prayers, rites, folk songs and dances, and a welcome song.  Dates The festival is celebrated for six days in the first week of September each year.    Day 3 On Day 3, a special pig is killed and the eldest woman in the family feeds the three fire-place stones with rice and meat.   Significance The festival is celebrated after a year of hard work by the Sangtam people.
