Line ki equation se y nikal kar circle ki equation mai put karo ek quadratic banegi usse solve karo, x ki do ya ek ya imaginary value milegi, imaginary mean touch nahi karti, ek ek point pr touch karegi , do value mili to do point par intersect karegi, x ki jo value mili real no. Mai usse line ki equation mai put karo toh points mil jayenge simpla.

What about the case when the point is placed parallel to the center of the rod but more towards the left or right part of the rod? In that case the y compenent of the final electric field wouldn't be 0. It seems to me that a lot of information would have to be provided, like the distances of charges from the center of the rod, the angles... Or is there a way to simplify that case as well?

The general form of the line is ax+by+c=0 and when you put y=0(because on x axis y coordinate is 0) you'll get x=-c/a and when you put x=0 for point B(because on y axis,x coordinate is 0) in the general form equation,you'll get y= -c/b
