DeBeers does control the distribution quantity and that’s how Natural Diamonds are able to hold their value. There is nobody controlling the production of Lab Grown Diamonds. Another commodity is oil and oil production is controlled by OPEC, which prevents one or two oil fields from over producing and driving the price of oil down. Someone needs to create a Lab Diamond Cartel, otherwise the price of LGDs will continue to fall and they’ll become available as landscape material, for the garden. In 2024, LGDs are 90 -95% cheaper than Natural Diamonds.

The 2024 JCK Diamond Event in Las Vegas had more LGD vendors than ever before and May very well overtake the number of ND vendors, in a couple of years. There are videos of the event showing ex/ex/ex/D/vs1 LGDs selling for $99/ct, then a couple of months later, the prices had dropped to $40/ct. There’s a Jeweler/KZbinr selling very high quality LGD rings for $3,000 = 3ct. When jeweler justifies the price of a LGD by telling you how much a ND counterpart costs…run.
