A truly devious way to get a ko would be through Me First. It is quite the rare move to see a pokemon even run and it's not even in the current generation. Depending on the cooked up scenario there you could even steal a pokemon's explosion, use it with the boost in power, and possibly not even KO the opponent and KO yourself instead. Only for the opponent to now use explosion on an open field and still faint.

The Macho Brace doubles EVs gained but halves Speed. Smogon recommends using it on Bronzong to increase the power of Gyro Ball without grounding it like an Iron Ball would.

Correction: Psyblade gets the 1.5x boost in Electric terrain, not Psychic terrain. Psychic terrain just gives it the regular 1.3x boost

I wish there was a mon that had an ability that used wonder room at the end of every turn. Opponent's phis def is walling you? Just click protect and then smack them next turn. They bring in a reversed special wall? The ability takes you wonder room back down and you smack them too

I gotta feeling they invented the Lucky Punch before the Special Attack/Def split. Chansey had a decent Special in Gen 1 and it would have stood out from Blissey as a potentially offensive wall. So you would go Chansey for an offensive wall and Blissey for a defensive wall

For whatever reason when I played pokemon as a kid I always thought Chip Away must be a pretty strong move, because I never had any guys that learned it but whenever the AI did it always seemed to do good damage. Presumably because I barely understood type matchups (not sure I even knew what type the move was tbf) and just swapped my starter into everything.

You can use the move “Natural Gift” to consume the berry that your pokemon is holding in order to use a move of an specific type. Example: Gyarados with natural gift and a Cheri berry will literally eat it and use a fire move xD

Jaboca and rowap berries have a very niche use in gen 7 balanced hackmons and earlier gens back in the day to beat sturdy shedinja.

Ive used both Jaboca and Rowap berries in 1v1 to break sturdy on Pokemon like Crustle and Magnezone who don’t make contact for rocky helmet. I’ve also used Lucky Punch in gen 2, though it’s pretty bad and you should just use leftovers.

Gen2 berserk gene on mewtwo was not actually unused data, it was part of a mechanic called trade backs where you trade between a gen 1 and 2 gane with the time machine. Aside from getting items you could get unique movesets from egg move/tm not available in the other respective game.

Chansey got the Lucky Punch because their name in Japanese is literally just ラッキ (Rakki, read as Lucky), since the whole gimmick with Chansey was that their encounter rate was very low, so you had to be "Lucky" to find one. So getting an item that also boosts the chance of a luck based mechanic is fitting for them, even if it doesnt do much lol
