Phillies don’t need starting pitcher at all. All they need is a closer and a better hitting coach. They didn’t learn how to adjust to other teams adjustments.

I don't think the Phils need to make big moves. They won 95 games. Sure, they lost to the Mets, .. but let's be honest (and I'm a Mets fan): that series basically came down to one pitch. Lindor, who is a superstar, got the big hit to score all the runs for the Mets to win. If Lindor's shot came down on the warning track instead, the Phils win and head home with Zack Wheeler waiting. The Phils likely win the series. I know it is painful when your team flames out. But there is no need for hysterical reactions. The Phils have rotation pieces (especially Wheeler), the Phils have bullpen pieces, the Phils have big bats. I think all the Phils need is a little tinkering. Some grinders down the lineup, like the Mets have, would help. Some better depth. I fully expect the Phils, Braves, and Mets to be in an epic fight to the finish next season regardless of what the Phils do in the offseason. The NL East could be epic for the next several years.

Thank you for taking the time to articulate your point, really love the detail. Lindor showed up in a big way like Harper did in '22 and I can't be mad at that. I agree the Phillies need to find their versions of Nimmo, Winker, etc. Just dudes that can provide pop or get on base and pass the baton to keep those innings alive. Definitely with you on the NL East point, next season will be cinema one way or the other

The Mets had the best record in baseball from May 31st until the end of the season. That's almost 4 months of being the best team in baseball. The Phillies were 33-32 after the AS break after being otherworldly up to that point and then lost something like 8 of the last 13 regular season games while the Mets rattled off a 16-4 run in September. You were basically a .500 team by the time the playoffs rolled around. The last 2 years you guys started out cold then caught fire after the AS break. This year was the opposite. Shit happens

That’s because you are a casual. You overrated a team that was basically a .500 since June. Then you under rated a team that was 65-40 since June.

Even when Suarez was dealing, I kept looking at his pitch count. They couldn’t score against him but his count was high. I knew once they got to the bullpen, it was a wrap. Jorge Lopez and the team meeting was the turning point.
@Mattriarc
@Mattriarc 2 күн бұрын
I mean I personally disagree, Suarez was very lucky to not give up 4+ runs with the Mets shooting themselves in the foot multiple times by swinging at bad pitches with the bases loaded (mostly the curve ball in the dirt). I think once the bullpen came in it was almost a definite since the Phils didn't add on the lead.

Great, logical take. Killer lineup. Brutal to get thru. The recipe was to outlast the starting pitching, then work the bullpen. Mets have the same issues. Not the brutal lineup though. Diaz is not 2022 Diaz. Nice job. #LGM #YaGottaBelieve #Grimace

It is baseball. This stuff happens every year. People underrated Lindor. I think he is one of the best players in baseball. If he didn’t hit at all he would be valuable defensively. Offensively, he does it all and is incredibly clutch. In the Mets, Phillies series he was by far the best player on the field.

Thanks for the respect & compliments. As most Mets fans we might dislike the Phils & Braves but we respect them. The NL East is a Beast because Iron Sharpens Iron. All these teams compete like rivalry obsessed competitive brothers on steroids. I love this Mets team but they finallt got the mix right instead of paying huge contracts to still good but older Scherzers & Verlanders. Meanwhile they let Zack Wheeler & Seth Lugo in their primes (late 20’s-early 30’s) walk in free agency for nothing which I was furious about - it still stings. The Mets finally smartened up with there new GM who tries to better balance youth with veterans, big contracts for franchise types not desperation moves & keeping the farm stocked. Anyway, the baseball playoffs have been amazing across the board. It’s great to see so many passionate fans & exciting moments. I think many new fans are discovering that baseball isn’t slow & boring at all but is one of the few sports that has the team aspect but also that epic 1 vs 1 battle aspect in the duel between pitcher & hitter. The Mets, Braves & Phillies will be fighting for years to come. They’re all loaded. In the end only 1 team wins & the rest end up like the trams who exited early. I’d argue that it’s probably easier to deal with an early exit than a loss far into the playoffs. I don’t know that the Mets can overcome the Dodgers & if they do the Yankees are a juggernaut. The Mets might have a high payroll but much of it is for contracts they traded like Scherzer & Verlander. Whatever happens to the Mets it has been a special season regardless. Anyway, I expect epic battles im the NL Beast for years to come. Even the Nats & Marlins are scrappy talented teams. Phils had a great year & have nothing to be ashamed of. Sometimes you just don’t have it in a short series. It’s a hard freaking game. Cheers & good luck. 🙂👍
