For being 200 years old it is still in really good condition. It’s a beautiful old house. It’s great that you are restoring it.

I doubt its 200 years, and a cabin is normally not cut stone or its mad out of wood.

So much hard work, and most of it by hand, even sweeping with their own hands. Beautiful project and so worthy of restoration!

What do you hold on to when you're doing your business? You have to go outside in the middle of winter, no access through the house? Sorry, just wondering.

fire is your friend and much rubbish can be burnt including the Farrel tree stumps! like to see the rebuilding of ondols including in the court yards! somewhere near the home they should have a limestone kiln! it is how they slaked limestone and fired the clay vessels when you dig it out much of the spare limestones and sands can be reslaked for palsters and mortars which cure for a thousand years! study the old cement and concrete recipes which originated in the areas around 5000 years ago these ancient reciepes are the key to longevity 1000 year cure means 1000 year break down periods instead of 50 or 60 years offered by contemporary cement mixes! usually, volcanic ashes and sea saltsor even complex sugars where employed in the mixes for the slow cure and extreme reliability! good luck!

I love it, what a beautiful historic home. Would love to see the "finished" and it's re-emergence into it's new life and family. Wonder if they found any "relics" of the prior families that lived there (saw the tool) and the fermenting pots like old coins to other personal things dating way back?

Great job! Nonetheless watching the video, I'd rather say, the house itself is about 200 years and was abandoned for not much longer than maybe 30 years, but not much done to it, since the turmoil of the 1950s and 60s...wich can be a very good thing, but seeing the unsympathetic modern material used for restauration, also quite easily could be spoiled, as old houses normally don't react very well to the use of modern materials, wich very easily could become a huge structural problem - not to mention the optical assault...On the other side, considering the costs if a professional restauration, those houses may never will survive, even more so in Eastern Asia, as - unfortunaly - there still exists a very bad attitude amongst many people, who consider anything old as somewhat disposable that has to be removed, especially when it comes to old houses...And so almost the whole architectural heritage and with it the whole way of living, culture and identity is disappearing before our eyes, making way for a somewhat deprived way of living, wich Lacks all kind of uniqueness, authenticity and individuality... And no, same problem in Europe and other parts of the world, too...but with the difference, that many countries, especially in Europe and Northern Africa in the meanwhile do have quite rigid laws for heritage protection, including not only the big national monuments but reaching much fairer, including also the protection of historic relicts, customs and houses of common men. On the other hand, all those laws and restrictions are of very few use, if there isn't spent enough public money and professional advice, aid and assistance by authorities, and, even more important, if those houses and items loose their use and therefore their place and 'reason for beeing' in our live, as beauty alone d🎉oesn't supply the uphold of such a building. So the best thing you can do, is to bring life back into them, whilst knowing, what will work in the long-term (which in those houses always means, do and use, what people already have done or used 100 ,200 or even 1000 years ago, and not what' s available and usual now...), and which materials, aesthetic faux or measures better to avoid...And yes, all thus means hard and tedious work and a lot of study and knowledge... So I'm happy to see someone trying it, and really keen on the final and long-term results of Your effort.
