If you swap the engine from the 180 why don’t you get the useful load as well?
@DonatFlyingAdventures2 ай бұрын
Not how it works unfortunately. Airframe has the useful load attached to it, not the engine. I know that it’s kind of non sense since the Cherokee 140 and 180 airframes have very little differences. But those are the breaks.

I just started looking at 140's for time building
@IslandInsanity6 ай бұрын
Low cost in the context of aircraft is not what people not in aviation think. Low cost means it will cost you $70-80 per hour to fly if you fly around 100 hours per year, plus the cost of the aircraft. That amounts to about 12-15k per year up to the high side of 30k per year, again not including the cost of purchasing the aircraft. It’s really not comparable to a car in any way shape or form. It’s not like buying a literal Honda civic!

Very cool, I think from all the 1000s of videos that I've watched, it's the first one describing with a little more details the crossing from Canada to USA. It would be interesting to do an EP. 1.1 with just François and you explaining the whole process, who do you need to call in advance, etc. Good job guys!

We averaged 140kt true on 11.5-12 gal per hour for the whole trip. We had a 10-20kt tail wind most of the way too so it was a quick flight down compared to taking my Cherokee 140.

Happy to spam! I'll shoot you an email. In the mean time, this is an epic trip. One thing I've struggled with over the last 6 months is actually finding days I can train when the weather is good. Would you ever embark on a trip like this, with all the planning, with just a vfr rating?
@DonatFlyingAdventures8 ай бұрын
@@Jer29 I’ll keep an eye out for the email. But we did the whole flight down in VMC. So only having a VFR isn’t a problem. You just might have to wait out the weather sometimes but thats it. We got caught up on the return flight, you’ll get to see that a bit later in the series.

Hey man. Your channel was recommended on my page and I love the videos. Your stuff is great. Nicely shot and very engaging. Im doing my ppl west of toronto and have a film background. Were you concerned at all with disrupting airflow over the top of the wing with the camera mount?
@DonatFlyingAdventures8 ай бұрын
Hey! I’m glad the algorithm suggested my channel to you. To be honest, I never thought about the airflow disruption because I had seen so many other youtubers use the same type of mount. I don’t think there is much disruption happening that far back on the wing and also that close to the tip. From all the flying I’ve done so far, there is no difference between flying with the camera mounted there and without. Thanks for watching and good luck with your PPL.

I'm 41 in good health with a class 1 medical license. I have been working in law enforcement but really want to switch. Realistically (assuming I can finance it) is switching careers into small aircraft commercial aviation (something like ACE, Everett's, etc.) a real option, or am I dreaming? I am specifically looking at Alaska, where I live, but also generally. I'm not asking per se about the process or cost. I've researched all that. I just don't know about actual hireability with a company. I also know there is probably a difference between minimum hours on paper to get hired versus actual hours wanted to get hired... I'm concerned about bridging the initial flight hour gap from training to actually being marketable Thank you for your help and thoughts!
@DonatFlyingAdventures8 ай бұрын
I can’t really tell you if it will be easy for you to find a job after you’ve gotten all the required ratings and flight time. But I can say this. If you are un-happy doing the job you are doing now, then any amount of success doing something else will feel like it was all worth it. But just know that if you want to switch, you’ll need to get through the process as quickly as possible so that you have a good amount of years left to actually do it. Best of luck!
