I hope you don’t mind my post here. I just wanted to give you an update on my Calf camera. It has been in Florida for the past month and a half and I finally got to really think about what I was doing and my expectations with this camera. First of all I understood that for the 3D photos I should take them in flat mode. Made all the difference in the world. I feel like there are several terms that have been thrown out there and I have finally figured out how I need to be shooting. I shot a couple of short videos today and viewed as spatial after converting them. They look beautiful. I think the quality is what I expected finally. The videos can be color corrected in Final Cut Pro and then exported. The last thing I need to figure out is immersive VR video. I think one of the limitations I am dealing with is the video players and many times they zoom in on the video and that degrades the quality. Anyhow I also want to thank you for keeping me updated on your progress and staying optimistic. Cheers

It's only 3.2 firmware update at this point.

Yep they did promise the update for end of Dec 2024, so they are late on it. I will follow up on my email from them!

The audio in this video isnt synced, or seems to drift out of sync periodically. Is that a CALF camera issue, maybe?

Look forward to seeing the wedding footage with the new updates. Good video, can you connect a DJI or rode external mic for example as the inbuilt audio (I presume this is) is shocking. Good that you posted with original audio though so at least we know

Your video looks great. Could you share instructions on the selected options to shoot + import on the oculus? I just received the Visinse with the last updated firmware. I selected 3d, 6k and 50 fps. Anyway when I play on the Meta Quest 3 and select 3d 180 vr, I see the immersive video but it is in 2d. It doesn't look like yours. Thank you in advance

To watch it in 3D VR180 on the Meta Quest you should use on the Quest the Player "Here Sphere" (You will find it in the Meta Store). First use the Here Sphere Demo it is free and you can check if it is worth buying it (Which you never need to to but with small restrictions). With that player you can watch your Calf Visinse 3D VR180 Videos in 3D. I also was dissapointed that the internal player does not play it as a 3D VR180 only as VR180 Video. After figuring out that I was amazed with 3D VR180 in 6k and 50fps and 50mbit. Give it a try.

@paolods1407 Now after some research, I can tell you that you simply have to rename the files to filename + "_180_3D" e.g myvideo_180_3D than the Quest player recognise your video as VR180 3D.

Seriously, this company needs to invest in Frore Systems. So much quieter and in a smaller package. Traditional fans are *NOT* the appropriate solution for compact cameras!

Well after 3 days I can never get back, I am taking the new canon vr lens back. I was commenting to you a couple of days ago on this. I am not sure who they are marketing here, but I am out of the demographic I guess. First of all you need the Canon r7, which I have and it will be useless on the Canon R, which I also have. You will also need a mac computer with very current configuration. Only has manual focus with pictures and I think it has auto for video. So lots of messing around with getting the right focus for photos. It would need to be on a tripod so it holds focus, so not a point and shoot lens. Thanks for letting me vent and I will get back to the Calf once we are back in FL in January. Thanks again for doing all the testing on that camera

I think both of these videos looked very good. It would be great to see exposure settings and maybe the colors could be better. It almost looks like you are shooting in a flat mode. Thanks so much for keeping us updated.

Yes @rcflyinglife2024 it does look a bit flat, which is how they are sorting the previous issue of over saturation, but I don't mind so much to be honest. Also very easily fixed. I will use it over Christmas 🎄

@ It will be nice if they ever give us control over colors. Hoping that is included with the exposure addition. I ordered the Canon - RF-S7.8mm F4 STM Dual Lens for EOS R-Series yesterday and will get it this weekend. Hoping this will be great.

Hey what did you think of the latest update from a couple of days ago? I think it is pretty lame. This camera is never going to be nearly as good as the Qoocam or the Beam Pro. Hoping I am wrong and I know you are very optimistic, but the updates they have done thus far are doing nothing for me.

I did some tests today, and I think they've improved it quite a lot. The audio is much better now it's in sync in all the settings even 8K, they have also increased the volume of the audio slightly as it was much quieter before. I think now we have the ability to choose different color profiles. The camera is very usable. Check my channel out and in an hour or two a couple of videos go up giving examples where I'm talking about these situations. I believe the best settings for the camera is 6K 50 frames per second and a bit rate of 50 if you're not going to call grade, as this makes the file size smaller for uploading to KZbin.

Oh dear, the audio is out of sync, as before. I have just sent an email to the Calf team sharing this video as an example of the out of sync problem, hopefully they sort it soon!

Right, but does the camera still have that stupid jittery frame rates? It's jumpy and skips around when their is motion, I saw an 8k file and looked at the frame rates using windows file browser and it shows 30.12fps what the heck is that? I think this thing is using variable frame rates despite actually selecting one

At 30 FPS, any fast moving subject does look a bit jittery, but I'm seeing this on other 3-D videos, I think for 3-D to be truly smooth. It needs to be a higher frame rate. if you drop the resolution down to 6K you can bump up the frame rate to 50 FPS and then it is much smoother. I think the 30.12 FPS that you have discovered could be the cause of this out of sync audio that I am experiencing, and the Calf team have already promised an update any time now which makes changes to the A3 algorithm, which I believe is messing with the frame rate as you have already pointed out. I have asked for help a few times they will eventually get back to me hopefully ? but every time I run the update from check update it doesn't install update it reverts to 2.1.2 build I also initialize device still the same build ? , and I get nothing when I click on windows update steps from the update-allversion the visince C1 shows up and try to install by putting the update1 and calling it update and then update2 to update and it reverted to old phone software so I don't have a mac only pc is anyone else having the same problems when I first run the win update I get this adb: unable to connect for root: no devices/emulators found adb.exe: no devices/emulators found adb error: failed to get feature set: no devices/emulators found so is there anyway to update my pc it says its using the correct and updated drivers ? I should mention I am logged in Aswell and everything seems fine it downloads the update.zip to the camera not to the card but the internal memory should the update be on the card instead ? and I get the install new version screen but it wont update

first of all have you connected the camera to your Wi-Fi, then have you created an account and logged in? If you have done both of these and you are on version 2.1.2 which you mentioned that you are when you go to the back of the screen and click update in about section it should automatically update without connecting your camera to any computer, this is how I updated mine. But to do this, you have to be on version 2.1.2.

@@LabyrinthMiniMovies yes I am on 2.1.2 and logged in and Wi-Fi connected it come up on pc as visince C1 but after I get the screen saying updating to version 3 and I click the initialize which resets I also don't see an update version before resetting and its still on version 2.1.2 maybe the next update will sort it out hopefully

@@videosceneadv if you've got 2.1.2, there is no need to connect the camera to a computer at all just click the update on the screen in the about section and it will automatically go into an update sequence

@@Glennysworld thanks its still not working it went into a menu I never seen before android recovery ,reboot to boot loader, enter fastboot, apply update from adb, from sd, wipe data, wipe cache partician, so on , its bit of a nightmare I hope they get back to me ,I like this camera just wish I could get the version 3.0 to work thanks anyway

@@videosceneadv you are not abe to read or what! no need to connect to a pc. no need to dowlaod the update on a sd card! you simply push check update on the camera menu. after the update you have to reiniatialize the camera. you have to be connect on wifi. no cable connected to anything else. you have to be registered. be sure the camera is charge and the internal drive not full. you have to do the first update correctly before that new firwmare. that have nothing to do with windows driver... there is 2 version of the first update but i guess you didnt read that part either!

Which firmware are you running your camera on? Do you have the latest 3.0.8. I created an account with my Gmail email and just came up with a username and the camera is always logged in. Because of this when the new update came out, I was able to do it over the air direct from inside the camera with no need to connect it to the computer. I expect the next update which will be coming along in the next few days will arrive in the same way. I don't get any annoying messages when I take a picture or record a video so maybe the best thing you can do sign up for a Gmail account that you never gonna use and put those details into the camera, then the error messages will not come back.

@Glennysworld Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have the latest firmware installed and it shows in the setting. Nevertheless, it was a 3-step-process and the last step always failed, but the version showed correct. I do have 2 gmail addresses but it won't let me log in with either of them. I may have to open a ticket with them, or hope for the next update. Other then that, everything else seems ok.

Yes this was straight out of camera, I did nothing to it, but I noticed there are some noise cancelling going on which is removing some of our talking.

Good news the new firmware is now available, you can't download it from the website but so long as you've got the current firmware that's listed on the website installed on your camera, you would be able to do an update directly from the camera itself. Click update and it will start updating takes about five or six minutes but mine updated and now it is working a lot better. Still crashing but I have a feeling it might be my memory card so I'm gonna try a different card. We have multiple frames per second to choose from as well as multiple quality settings all the way up to real 8K As well as multiple color profiles to choose from, I've tested it very briefly and they are 1 million times better than the original recording quality.

As you can see, I was suffering from the same problem as you were, I spent days trying to find out how to turn these side-by-side videos into real 3-D videos. Calf sent me this email. Our camera-generated videos do not include any metadata because most platforms do not require it. Our videos can be viewed on any device or uploaded to any platform, except for KZbin. We recommend that you refer to this method for conversion: github.com/google/spatial-media/releases/tag/v2.0 Best, CALF

Thanks for letting me know that I am not going crazy. I have requested a refund, but nothing back yet. This almost feels like a scam. Not sure where to go with this. I will never ever pick up this camera again? You have any idea what you are going to do?

Befor bying you should read about it. This is not a camera for mr. Everybody because it is still in development. For the moment it is not 8k but 7.2. You need to understand that this market is empty. This is what we have for the moment. Be patient

I actually read about and watched videos about this camera before it was launched. Also, I read their own website before I purchased. Below is text copied directly from the Calf website. So my expectations from the camera are equal to how the camera was sold to me. Quoted from the Calf website The CALF VISINSE camera is specially designed for the VR180 frame, with two side-by-side lenses that shoot 8K spatial video, capturing the actual scene as human dual eyes. (Its not 8K Yet) The CALF VISINSE camera is compact enough to be taken anywhere and easy to use like a mobile phone or digital camera. (Yes its mobile, but the footage is very poor, unlike my mobile phone) The CALF VISINSE camera is an excellent option for you to start your virtual reality experience to connect to popular platforms like KZbin, TikTok and many others, propelling your artistry to new heights. (Footage from this camera will not play in 3D VR180 on any platform) Seamlessly connect to VR Headsets. The advanced camera can seamlessly connect to VR headsets such as Meta Quest, PlayStation VR, Apple Vision Pro, and Google Cardboard. (I have been unable to connect the camera to my Meta Quest3)

@Glennysworld They have easy connection to apple pro, or in the future. For the moment all promesses are only for the future. Now, you can connect your camera to a pc, take files and maybe use skybox. They have a very good wireless fileserver. It is easy if you have skybox

I doubt if this is even 720 p. Let alone 7.2. That is not something that can be fixed with an update. My only question is how do I get a refund.

All of the features of this camera currently don't exist inside the camera, I am a photographer and videographer and purchase the camera to make 3-D content for my clients. So that they can share it on social media platforms as promised, but if the only place that you can view this content is inside a single app that means for the moment the camera is useless for my use case. I do however, feel optimistic about soon to come firmware updates to solve these issues.
