@mathcornerАй бұрын
@@gonesawless There are 5 objects taken 2 at a time. In the first solution, 5!/(5-2)! = 5!/3!. It can be written as (5*4*3*2*1)/(3*2*1). By cancellation method, it becomes 5*4.
@Dottie29Ай бұрын
@@mathcorner Hello, Sir. If that's a way to write 5! as 5*4*3*2*1, why was 2 disregarded or not included?
@mathcornerАй бұрын
@@Dottie29 5! is in the numerator and (5-2)! is in the denominator. Since (5-2)! = 3!, then we have 5!/3! which is equal to 120/6. 120 divided 6 equals 20. Other method is by cancellation. From 5!/3!, it is equal to (5×4×3×2×1)/(3×2×1). Cancel out (3×2×1) in the numerator and the denominator, we are left with 5×4, which is equal to 20.

n is like the total number of objects and r is the chosen one the n is 10 because there are 10 available parking spaces, and r is 4 because its looking for different ways or possibilities
