I know that in the early days of this show, there would be an episodic incident where Jack had to face and defeat some foe or obstacle. This is one of my favorite moments, not because it is bittersweet, but because it is one of the times when even Jack is amazed or shocked. Thank you very much.

That Golem was basically had the same faith like Jack's Father he watch his homeland get destroyed by Aku unfortunately there wasn't any God that came or any Evil Repeling Magic Weapon that was given to him

There’s so much nostalgia packed into watching these clips. I’ll never forget sitting on my couch watching this episode when it aired. I feel so privileged to have experienced this era of cartoons when it was on TV but I also get bummed knowing I’ll never be able to get off the bus and wait for Cartoon Cartoon fridays ever again.

I can't help but wonder if this is why Odin appears to restore The Sword to Jack in S5. He's essentially repaying the debt owed here. Jack restored honor and his blade to The Old Warrior, and that's a huge deal in viking culture. So I'm willing to bet The Old Warrior would've asked Odin to help Jack. So when Jack needed to have The Sword restored to him Odin answered the call and did just that, repaying the debt Jack created when he helped The Old Warrior years prior. Just my theory.

I love that theory. But also the fact that Odin WAS one of the Gods that fought the Primordal darkness that Aku is actually just a tiny scrap of. Also one of the Gods that originally forged the Sword

I love how this one-off 'monster of the week' episode was more emotionally gripping and had a more satisfying climax than the series finale that took a decade to make and air.

@@mrdropkicker1 It could've also been great if: 1. they scrapped the shitty reused Mad Jack storyline 2. we saw ANY characterization for Ashi's sisters and/or mother whatsoever 3. the Scotsman died and stayed dead (not because I dislike him, but because his death was entirely pointless when it could've been the perfect nut-punch reminder that Aku, hilarious as he is, is pure evil and needs to be destroyed) 4. the Guardian storyline wasn't simply fucking *forgotten about* 5. the entirety of episode 8 was erased 6. the final battle with Aku got more than 10 minutes 7. the battle with Aku was between JACK and Aku 8. Ashi didn't turn into a literal plot device 9. the Gurren Lagann ripoff ending didn't happen 10. the shitty soyboy fandom didn't eat all of it up Actually, you know what? Scrap Season 5 entirely. It was a bad dream. Make a Season 6 where everything isn't another 50 years older for no reason and give us the 'Jack the Warrior King' ending we wanted.

This is definitely one of the most bittersweet moments of the entire episode. Jack finally defeats the Lava Monster, breaking the curse, and the Viking warrior, the man who turned into said Lava Monster, aged into an old man in his dying moments. The moment he died, his soul ventured into Valhalla.

It's not bittersweet at all. The poor guy's family, friends, and homeland are all long-dead and gone thanks to Aku, and he himself has been stuck inside a volcano all alone for centuries, unable to leave or even die. It's honestly a miracle he hasn't gone insane; even after everything he's endured, he just wants to go home. It's probably one of the nicest and most well-deserved ends of anyone in the series, considering everyone else either died during the final battle with Aku or got erased from existence when Jack went back in time in the final episode.
