Where will Liverpool finish this season?
@oparahdc4 күн бұрын
They conceded too many goals last season in the championship and had to rely on comebacks to win many games, which they would lose against an average PL side. The PL is ruthless. I can imagine Aston Villa putting four past them in the first half. Unless they improve the squad significantly between now and the end of the window, I do not see how they stay up.

Interesting. About the only person who thinks Town will be ok, unlike the bookmakers. As a Town fan, l just don’t know but will have an idea after the first game. I will say this: unlike a lot of people on KZbin you do seem to understand how they play and McKenna does like a roughneck up front. He is not expected to score that much as goals come from all members of the team. Couple of points. First, last couple of years January signings have really made the difference. Second, there is money in the bank from selling a share in the club last year. And if you want to be optimistic, last time we were in this position and favourites to go down, we finished fifth. We went down the following year mind

Thanks, good video. A lot of people focus on Kieran McKenna and they're right to, he is going to the very top. They don't mention, or are perhaps unaware of, what's going on behind the scenes at Ipswich. Sensible new American backers who provide money but otherwise keep enthusiastically in the background, a hard working and very effective CEO, investment in the stadium, pitch and training camp - not to mention our brilliant manager. I don't think that's a blueprint for relegation!
@outsidethebox-TW15 күн бұрын
Yes I think I should’ve mentioned the club is very different from the one when you had McCarthy all those years ago, and that you have some very clever and sensible people behind the scenes doing good things. I look forward to see how you do this season :)
@tbeau666315 күн бұрын
Toby you are way of the mark. Ipswich Town will need one point per game to stay up. (38) That's the equivalent of ten wins and eight draws... Against which teams? A Town fan on social media recently boasted that his team will finish 10th. I asked him to nominate the ten teams that Ipswich will finish higher than......He hasn't responded. In reality, only new right back Johnson has any significant Premier League experience, in fact far more than the whole Ipswich squad put together. It has to be noted that so many of Johnson's 69 Prem appearances for West Ham were as sub as he was never first choice (which is why he opted to leave on a free.) Spending £20m on Chelsea U21 player Hutchinson doesn't count as improving the squad as he played for Ipswich on loan last season. Muric, Greaves and Delap are also lacking relevant experience. As are the rumoured players at Blackburn and another at Burnley that Ipswich are reported as being interested in. It's not long now before Ipswich Town play at home to Liverpool and away at Manchester City in the first two weekends. It will take a brave, or deluded, Town fan to predict a win in either game. Sorry, but it will be PL 2, L2 goal difference possibly minus 9 and rock bottom in the table. Ipswich Town going down.
@outsidethebox-TW15 күн бұрын
Completely see where you’re coming from and I don’t doubt it’s tough for them to stay up. I pose to you x2 sides who nobody expected to stay up, but managed to (relatively) easily in recent years - Sheffield United with Wilder & Bournemouth with O’Neil. Obviously they have their own nuances but I believe these are two case studies which show experience isn’t everything. Shef U must’ve had a handful of appearances in that squad, from players who hadn’t ever been deemed as ‘premier league quality’. I think if Ipswich beat the teams around them, which McKenna is capable of, they’ll be fine.

It's gonna be tough for any of the promoted sides to stay up... We've never lost 2 league games on the spin under McKenna, albeit at lower divisions. But he has great in game management and a knack of picking up points, instead of nosediving after a defeat...So I can see us grinding along, picking up a few points until we've adjusted and bedded in our new signings. We should add a few more before the window closes.. Good insight in your upload...I think Omari Hutchinson could be key for us. Brilliant young player. And we'll need to bolster our MF.

In my opinion, 5th is ambitious for Spurs as is 3rd for Villa. Newcastle and West Ham will finish higher than your 8th and 10th respectively. Man United will be about 7th and Chelsea are sliding to 9th or 10th. Palace won't be in the top half. Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester to go straight back down. Arsenal champions.

Ipswich were stagnating in League 1 prior to the change of ownership and subsequent appointment of Kieran McKenna. I'm old enough to remember the Robson era but a lot of Town supporters are too young to remember the club's last and rather brief sojourn in the PL. Last season the team tended to have a tight defence away from home but in home games it was often a goal feast; great to watch but tough on the nerves. If we are to stay up and remain in the PL then a strong defence is essential. That was a good video, well-researched and well-presented, with a few points for discussion.

@NickNicholsonNFFC25 күн бұрын
As much as I am grateful for what Cooper achieved at Forest his style of football is simply not sustainable, it is full on low block anti possession anti pressing which in the Premier League you are inviting far too much unnecessary pressure onto yourself and it is inevitable that you will concede at least one goal. We lost more than well over 20 points from winning positions as a result of this tactic. It is very painful watching this type of football. He is still a very young manager and has more than enough time to change his tactical mentality. Man management is his speciality although he did fall out with several players of the senior squad and even banished them to training with the reserves just because they spoke out about not being happy with the style of football we were playing, even though in the past he said that any player could go to him with any question at any time. He always comes across as flawless to the media but behind closed doors it is very much a different story. The only reason he survived so long is because he had made up enough credits in the bank so to speak by getting us promoted ans becoming a hero with a majority of the fans. The one shocking stat is that he only achieved 2 away wins in the Premier League in one and a half seasons!!
