@@ljtv1916 no idea. It was a lot of custom fabrication to fit it. Custom mounts and shafts etc. nothing off the shelf with the exception of the gearbox, lever and geartronics display

Well buying an rs shell in good condition to do this to it would cost a hell of alot more to start with, so even more dead money before it even gets to this stage

@M P i wouldn't say "have to", thats even more of a non necessity for a build like this tbh. Theres a big difference in building a replica or restoring something, and then building something like this. Theres very little difference between rs and base models also, other than the rediculous price difference.

Thanks for the comment. Personal preference I suppose. I've always preferred them on 13" myself, however I do have a set of 15" minilites as well for it.

@@grp4motorsport If you put an engine like millington in then your tyres will get chewed up and just spin all the time and u wont get traction, hence the 15 inch on all tarmac escorts thats not considering ur cwp ratio and ur box ratios. I think u will end up running the 15inch by the time u rally it. Better choice of competition tyres is another bonus of 15inch wheels. Higher off the ground saves on diff casing smashing on loose gravel or bending ur sump guard. Ive seen a rix sump guard with strengthening ribs bend on a good day. not to mention exhaust scraping if your not running an exhaust tunnel

With the ratios and power I’ll be running it should be fine, but like I say I do have a set of 15” for it which I’ll likely use particularly on certain events. Like you say there are a lot more tyre options available so makes sense to have them. Thanks

Thanks for the comment and great question. I believe the motorsport UK blue book suggests that special stage rally cars are eligible for engine swap as long as the cylinder capacity does not exceed 25% of the original capacity. That’s how I interpret it anyway lol.

@Grp4 Motorsport Would be a good idea to double-check. I do events with a period correct 306 Maxi. As far as I know we can replace with an engine of the same brand. I have seen R5 turbo with a Megane rs engine. Though more than 25%. Please keep us informed about your progress.

The GT has the 110hp VTR engine (TU5JP4 NFU), the VTS, Code and Loeb have the 125hp engine (TU5JP4 NFS). For a time you could get a VTR with a 1.4 petrol or a VTS with a 1.6 diesel
