Congratulations, beautiful bike! Wait until you learn how to use the DCT, you will be even more amazed and won’t ever want to go back to 6speed manual. I’m on my 6th DCT bike with over 220,000 miles logged. No issues so far with this transmission. Ride safe…

Thank you. I know there are so many people who are against the automatic gearbox on any motorbike, and I respect their choice and opinion. Probably only a while ago I was one of those people🤣, but I said that I'll try DCT and gave it a chance. After a test ride I fell in love with it. I like also my Africa Twin, I didn't expect it to be such a good bike. What Honda bike do you have? 220k miles it's amazing achievement 😱👍, congratulations.

@ FYI…I hated my first DCT bike, a 1012 Honda NC700X and put it up for sale after 30 days. When it didn’t sell, I started riding it more, and then started to learn the new clutch. Remember, this is an intelligent device and it will learn your riding style and make adjustments. The shifting will become even smoother. If you notice the DCT shifting is off, you can do a DCT Are-initialization procedure and the device will reset. Enjoy your beautiful bike.

Great chat mate, and great purchase, Tell me something, when you rine around 120km/h or above, have you experienced any buffeting ? i also consider exact same bike so will be nice to know from an owners point of view.

Thank you 👍 No I didn't experience any buffeting, maybe because I didn't pay any attention to it 🤣 I'll have to get a few quick spins and I'll check it properly. I know that people complained about some buffeting in the previous model and the solution was to install a fork shield, but from 2024 ATAS has a bit redesigned front end and some plastics do I don't know if it still has the same problem. I'll update it soon if the problem still exists.

I had a 23 Triumph 1200 GT Explorer. It was fun to ride especially with that 148 horsepower. I ended up trading it for a Honda 450 dual sport. Now I am buying a 25 Adventure Sport ES DCT. I am in the US so there is only one option with the electronic suspension. It also only comes in one color which is red, white, and blue which is fine with me. I think I am going to love it. Have fun with your new bike.
@darekz9777

I can guarantee you are going to love this bike. The 19" front wheel, and updated DCT gearbox is a game changer. For some reason I always underestimated the Africa Twin, I always thought that, she is too big too heavy, underpowered, and I will never like the DCT gearbox, but look what happened 🤣. It took me only a couple demo rides on it, and I completely changed my mind. So far I love it and I'm 100% sure this was the right decision. Sure, It's a big heavy bike with only 102 hp, but Honda manages to put everything together so well, that this bike ride amazing. Of course, for many people this bike will be too boring or not too exciting to ride, but for many of us it will be a perfect bike. I hope you will enjoy your bike soon as I do at the moment. Best of luck.

After I spent some time on KZbin watching a few videos about the controllers/ buttons on Africa Twin and reading the manual, everything become so clear and easy. It took me a couple hours to just figure out what is what and how to use it. I have to admit when you look at the handlebar at the beginning, all those buttons and controllers look a bit scary and busy, but after you figure them out, and learn how to use them, suddenly everything makes a sense why they are there and what they are for.

I wish the black was available in the USA. It looks nice. Too many people hate on the DCT. I love it. Have it on my Rebel 1100T. Very smooth. Same as the AT. Only no sport 1,2,3. Otherwise controls are the same. You will enjoy it. I do. Especially in LA traffic.

I didn't know that you don't have it in the USA the same colours as we have in Europe 😱 The mat black colour looks absolutely amazing, better than in any catalogue folder or pictures, in person looks absolutely badass. I love Honda DCT gearbox, especially after the software updates from 2024. The gearbox is acting much better/ smoother than in previous years or in previous Honda models with DCT gearbox. I am an old school Rider and I will never think that I will decide to go with an automatic gearbox on a motorbike. But soon when I tried that DCT on an African Twin I fell in love with it. I will never buy another Africa Twin or Honda motorbike without a DCT gearbox. Riding in traffic. It's an absolute pleasure.

Very soon I'll drop down the video from my first ride home on this bike, but so far it is a fantastic bike to ride. Yes, it's big and heavy, especially with Adventure Sports trim, and DCT, that's why I'll never consider taking this bike for any technical off-road riding, but for the tarmac roads, some gravel, green lines or fire roads it's amazing. The balance of this bike, handling it's superb. It's probably currently one of the best adventure motorbikes on the market that I ever drove, and I've been on most of them 😉🤣, at least it's the best in my opinion, that's why I bought it. I know that some people can have different opinions about it, and I'll fully understand it and respect their opinion, the bike is great, but not for everyone.

I've tried both ATAS, 2023 model with a 21" wheel, and the 2024 with 19" wheel, and there is a massive difference between riding them both on tarmac. 19" wheel is more responsive, better/quicker turn and safer/more stable, because wider tyre has more rubber contact with asphalt. I've chosen 2024 ATAS with 19" wheel because I'll spend more time on the tarmac with occasionally gravel/fire roads, but nothing hardcore, because I also strongly believe that Africa Twin is not a proper bike for the off-road - too big and too heavy, like you mention if I would decide ride off-road I'll will definitely choose smaller and lighter motorbike.

In the first year I lower the rear spring for a progressive one, dial up the setting to my weight, got the special comfort/heated seats, and a bunch of new parts, today is by far the BEST motorcycle that I EVER owned, in fact im keeping it and Im thinking to buy a RS767 for track and local riding, that is how I got into your channel. Own 2019 RS - 5 yrs 22,000KM. I didn't ride it much in the last 2 yrs. I've planned to sell or swap for Bobber but still thinking about why I brought it in the first place. Superb breaks, front and rear shocks. Light weight, good handle. Reliable of the bike with 20 km/lite for fuel consumption. Nice accelerate and high speed cornering. The only thing I hate after 5 years is riding position that I need my body fit to certain level for cruising speed 140km/hr in the long trip like 800 km to the north of Thailand from Bangkok. I'm thinking about buying a new bike like RE shotgun 650 but still not sure the performance I got from it for long trip. I wish I can have another one but my gf kept telling me to sell TST. 😅😅😅

Hi, how would you compare your riding buddies MT09 SP to the 765rs?
@darekz9777
@darekz9777 Ай бұрын
I actually quite enjoy riding my buddy 2023 MT09SP, maybe because it's not mine and don't ride it every day 😉 It's quite different compared to the ST RS, from riding position, engine characteristic to the build quality. 2023 MT09SP has more low and mid torque than the ST RS, riding position is more straight up, and bike pops wheeles every time you squeeze the throttle 😉, also the rear Ohlins shock has better/quicker adjustment. ST RS has better brakes, more top end power, more sportier/aggressive position which is better for fast riding and ride around the corners. The build quality is outstanding compared to the MT09SP which for example in some please looks bit flimsy and unfinished. My buddy 2023 MT09SP has already rusted underneath exhaust box and heater pipes. Some things changed in 2024 when the new MT09SP was released. The new MT09SP got Brembo brakes and master cylinder, so there is a match with ST RS, also Yamaha lowered the front end of the bike and lifted up the footrest so the riding position is also more sportier and aggressive. The new MT09SP has more futures now like keyless system, nice colour TFT display which in my opinion looks better than ST, cruise control as standard. So the choice between those 2 bikes is not that obvious anymore. I'll strongly suggest to test both those bikes and then decide which one to buy. The catalog numbers or KZbin reviews won't help, only real test ride will give you answers.

Thank you so much I knew you would have the answers . I’m still toying with the idea of an R over an Rs I’m not concerned about the price difference just want to make it a correct purchase I really appreciate your reply’s I’m 100 % keeping my Gen 1 street triple as it’s part of the family now and is perfect condition but as I get older it’s now or never regarding fulfilling my dreams, please can I ask you one more question? . Forgetting the monetary difference and if two bikes were side by side and you could take only one home would it be a street triple RS or a Ducati Diavel v4 ?? I appreciate their different bikes, but that’s the third bike in the mix for me to purchase thank you again cheers ian
@darekz9777
@darekz9777 Ай бұрын
If you have space definitely keep the Gen 1 ST. I had so many nice bikes which I sold or traded and now I'd love to have some of them in my stable. Unfortunately this is called live, and I don't have space to keep more than 2 bikes, and some times you have to lose/sacrifice something to get something new/different 😉 Like I said before ST R will be a more road focused bike, when RS sport/track weapon. The best idea is to visit the dealer and ask for the test ride of both of the bikes, this will clearly give the answer. The Ducati Diavel is a completely different bike compared to the ST, and will give you completely different riding exercises. Again I'll suggest you visit the dealer and ask for a demo ride. Over many years I found out that nothing and nobody will give you a better idea about the bike than the demo ride. There is no point looking into the data sheet, or dealer catalog, just go and test it. Many times it happened to me, that I was after my dream bike, and literally just before decided to buy it, and pay for it in the last moment I've tried/tested some different bike, and all my plan went to the ditch. So don't be afraid, and go to the different dealerships and test as many bikes as you can, then you will have a better and bigger picture. Best of luck 🤞

@darekz9777 Ай бұрын
I've seen this video, but in my opinion this is not a proper tutorial on how to adjust suspension on ST RS. All that he did was adjust rebound and compression according to the suggested settings in the owner book. He didn't touch/adjust any preload on the front suspension and rear of the shock. That's completely wrong. Preload SAG has to be adjusted straight after you buy the bike. It has to be adjusted individually to every rider according to the weight of the rider including his/her riding gear. Only then when you correctly set the front and rear SAG preload you can start adjusting compression and rebound preferably to your riding style, and after a few rides check it again, and maybe try to adjust a few clicks up or down and compare the results until you are happy. This is the first thing which I do with every bike I buy, doesn't matter if it's new or second hand. If you can't do it yourself I'll suggest looking for some help from some good motorcycle mechanic, because I found that most of the dealers are useless if you ask them to adjust suspension to your needs or rider. Even Triumph in it's own owner manual book said that you shouldn't change any preload settings on the rear shock, which is shocking for me 🤣

Hi please could I ask you for a little advise I’m thinking of buying a new RS but was wondering if I can remove the spacer on the rear suspension to flatten the angle like the R as I’m getting Older ? can that be done simply ? also do you think if I set the olins onto the softest setting it would feel more like the rear suspension on a R model . Thank you for your help and I really enjoy watching your Channel . . Ian
@darekz9777
@darekz9777 Ай бұрын
Hi, to remove the spacer from the rear shock on RS it's very easy, and shouldn't take longer than 20min with some help from another person that should only hold the rear of the bike. I have 2 videos about the rear shock spacer modification on my channel. The RS has better suspension than the R version, and there is more adjustment compared to the ST R. However you will need C spanner for the rear Ohlins shock to adjust correctly preload at the rear shock. I don't know why Triumph in the owners manual book said that you shouldn't change any preload settings at the rear shock, because preload has to be the first thing that has to be adjusted on the new bike, front and rear individually to the each rider. So when you set correctly front and rear preload then you can adjust front and real compression and damping accordingly to your needs: softer or more stiffer/sportier settings. However I found ST RS suspension is on the sportier stiffer side, even if you set them to the soft comfort settings. The whole bike is set to deliver performance, basically it's a sport bike without the fairings. It's one of the best if not the best bike in its own class, the handling and performance is amazing, same as building quality. So if you fit into that riding category you won't be disappointed, but you have to know, you have to be aware of what you will buy: it is a PURE SPORT NAKED SINGLE PERSON MACHINE. I love it 😉👍

Thank you. The RS version has better components than the R version, also the engine mapping is slightly different. As you mention with the RS version everything is about the sport and performance, but also everything can be changed to the more comfortable riding. The best idea is to test both motorbikes and then you should definitely feel the difference. For sure the R version is more dedicated and set for the road users, where the RS will suit the person who wants to take this bike from time to time to the track.
