I agree with the list other than the Golden Retriever should probably have been number 2 and it's not on the list. I have been blessed to have 3 labradors, a Golden Retriever, and a big sweet male Newfoundland that was stolen :` ( . Also grew up with a Saint Bernard and she was the neighborhood favorite, pulled everyones sled up the hills and raced us back down.

I don't believe that you list pugs. I agree, they are very kind, but you don't take into consideration that their nowadays almost not existent nose makes breathing really difficult. Look at pictures from before 1900, the pug had a much longer nose.

My GSD was the kindest towards others dogs, then was my borgi ( border collie corgi mix) but my desi pariah was kind of neutral, he actually kind towards my human family members only. Never played with his fur buddies, GSD and borgi, never went after any bitch, always tried best to avoid puppies and if any human tried to come near us, he was certainly got bitten. His world revolved around four of us( i, my wife, my two kids). His behaviour remained till he lived. May he is in better place.

I had 5 Border Collies ( my first girl was ½ Australian Shepherd,½ Border Collie I named Gem the Empath as she was very empathic and I was watching the '"TOS" episode that night whdn I bought her at a neighbourhood pet store)and found my BCs very friendly to those we met taking our walkies to our park or nearest shopping centre-which had a Petco Tess Siobhan she could enter and chose her own toy or treat. She also figured out how to alert me to my Diabetic² highs and lows on her own and sniffed at my arm when she wanted me to check my sugar level with my monitor. If it was low, she'd "herd" me to my kitchen frig or pantry. JackBNimble-her son followed-and he was a big furry boy with his double coat who loved to play "Border Collie Soccer" with his owner, my niece. His girlfriend, Little Bo Peep, was a cousin of my r/w Gypsy Rose Lee- and became BFF with her when she moved to my home after Tess and Jack passed away. Like most BCs, my Tess lived to herd animals that strayed into our yard-hens, chipmunks, squirrels, and geese and ducks at park's pond we visited with a friend and her young son. Concerned when the geese started scaring the children, Tess herded the geese back into the pond and made sure they stayed there til the owner tood her to leave. My Gypsy hated "dog clothes". I guess she figured if I named her after a strippet-in her opinion-that she might as well live up to her namesake. Little Bo Peep liked to give us her doggy smiles. If I could adopt another dog, it would be a BC, a mixed Aussie/BC, or even a Welsh Cardigan Corgi, maybe even a Blue Heeler/BC mix.

Over my lifetime I have owned two cocker spaniels , Labrador , German Shepard cross , Kelpie , blue healer , Staffy and staffy Lab cross , Rhodesian ridgeback , Lab cross border collie , and a few more cross bred dogs . I currently have two Kelpies and two Standard Poodles . My sister has pugs which are a money pit . She had to spend 5K on one just so it can breath plus all the other health problems they get .

Mixed breed dogs seem to benefit from their genetic diversity. I would like to see more videos that talk about them. I had a Collie Poodle mix at one time, and he was an incredible dog. I still miss him very much after decades.

Most purebreds aren't really - well, if they are BYBers - ppl who just call them purebred and then try to sell the puppies for profit. Genuine breeders - will get health checks for both the prospective mother and father - and will only breed them if they all check out - in other words, they will pay the $$ to make sure the puppies have a better chance at good health and avoiding genetic flaws. Most backyard breeders won't do that - and then you have 'purebreds' that have various health problems - or just aren't close to the standard.

As someone who has done rescue for decades all of these breeds can still become vicious if you don't establish who's in charge, the more energetic they are the more control you need to have. Teach them young how to relax and submit to authority. They look to you to tell them how to behave and what to do, if left with no guidance they will revert to instinct and rule the house.

The Samoyed, the Black Old Standard Labrador, and the Border Collie. I have had all three, and they were wonderful pets & companions/protectors. And then I had a dog that did these three one better : He was a Golden Labrador/Border Collie mix. The smartest most loyal loving protecting dog I have ever known. The night my mother passed from cancer, he knew she was gonna go. He got up on her bed(he was allowed on all our beds) he pressed as close to her as he could without making her uncomfortable. She loved and petted him until she passed at 1:00 AM. After that, he never entered that room again. He knew his beloved Grandma was never coming back. This was over 30 years ago, and after him I have never had another. None could live up to him, and it wouldn't be fair to expect one to. God how I loved that Dog. I still miss him. Badly. The only thing I had to spend time on was teaching him to bark. I realized at 6 mos. of age he had never barked yet. It took 30 minutes. of him being on the other side of a glass door and me one the other with pieces of ribeye steak to get him to speak. The first bark startled him, we thought we would die laughing. Little bit of praise, and more steak, he learned. After that, he never barked unless asked to for treats, go outside(potty, walks, rides)or if there was danger. Oh, and to go to his most favorite place, The River. LedHed Pb 207.20 🎶 🎸 🎹

We have 6 rescues. One of the Pitbulls is the most loving, sweet dog out of the six. There are 4 different Labs in my neighborhood. Two of them have bitten people. My point. Any dogs can be kind and well trained and dogs that most people think are good family dogs can be aggressive. I saw a video with Ceasar Milan Dog Whisperer and a Beagle was highly aggressive. Usually Beagles (I have two), are well behaved.
