Acabo de ver la película y me encantó, ahora sólo trato de buscarle alguna explicación pero me estoy dando cuenta que es un trabajo muy llevado a lo surrealista, interpretativo y alucinante de ver cómo todo un grupo sufre por no poder hallar socorro en el exterior. Amé la película.

Can anyone help me to understand the message /meaning of The Exterminating Angel? I recently saw this film and found it beautiful and disturbing, but I am completely at a loss as to what it is trying to say about society. Can anyone at least direct me toward some useful materials on the subject? Thank you.

+kennypop7; One of the best - The Cinephile Fix, really gets to the 'meat' of this masterpiece; cinephilefix.wordpress.com/2010/02/15/european-art-film-an-analysis-of-luis-bunuels-the-exterminating-angel/. Also, Roger Ebert: www.rogerebert.com/reviews/great-movie-the-exterminating-angel-1962. Ebert gives a (more) straightforward - clearer - interpretation, and, I'll give you this paragraph from it; '... the dinner guests represent the ruling class in Franco's Spain. Having set a banquet table for themselves by defeating the workers in the Spanish Civil War, they sit down for a feast, only to find it never ends. They're trapped in their own bourgeois cul-de-sac. Increasingly resentful at being shut off from the world outside, they grow mean and restless; their worst tendencies are revealed...' I'd start with Roger Ebert first, followed by Cinephile Fix. Sorry, it's been a year since you asked, I hope you've further explored the wonders of WELL MADE films, such as this, which make one question, and don't give answers so readily.

A mí me recuerda cuando estás en situaciones de las que sabés que tenés que salir pero por alguna razón no muy clara permaneces allí en el mismo lugar, derrotado por la abulia. . . . . . Irónicamente el hecho de obtener alguna respuesta en otro idioma puede ser quizás una explicación o analogía más acertada sobre el film.

This is nice but until you saw Kuroi in real life and his insanely high HP RB26 powered S13....you don't understand. I had the pleasure of witnessing him win 2x in ADPO in Shanghai...great driver. The auto community will miss him. RIP KUROI-SAN!
