Thank you Elaine. I am grieving over my dear wife's passing on August 13, 20214. Nothing prepared me for it regardless of what I thought. I was her caretaker for 31 months and still, I am paralyzed. You have let me see that my feelings are normal as are my requests for quiet or isolation (not all the time) are being respected most of the time.

I could not open bible for a long time. Every time I opened, I remembered the time I was reading and praying for his recovery. I was not angry at God. I just could not read bible and pray. I simply let myself as how I was and gave myself time in faith. I am doing better. I feel God’s presence in my grieving and so in healing. I miss my husband so much, but he was ready to go in a good faith, which gives me a great comfort and blessing for me.

I think there are layers of meaning to so many things that Jesus did and said. Spreading His word is important but is that all He expects of us? The people were there to hear Jesus talk, but if that were the most important thing, He wouldn't have been concerned with the people's hunger. But not only was He concerned, but doing something about their physical need took up most of the story. It seems to be easy for "Christians" to feel like prayer is enough, calling themselves "Christians" is enough. But maybe this story also admonishes us to tend to the physical needs of others, that if we do there will still be plenty left over for us. I hear people proclaim their Christianity, but they don't want to share with others , especially strangers. Jesus didn't tell the disciples to only share with friends or family or even those from their own village or country. He put no limits on His generosity and He didn't expect His followers to either. A lot of His time on earth was spent talking about "walking in someone else's shoes" and how doing good to just your own friends or family wasn't enough because "we are our brothers keeper". There are many examples of how He hated hypocrisy...in fact, that may have been the only thing He ever really got furious about. So perhaps the loaves and fishes and leftovers was just another way to tell us...don't worry, if you follow my example and share what you have with your fellow man there will still be plenty left over for you, because I will see to it.

I lost my beloved Wife on July 7th coincidentally our 17th wedding anniversary. I am numb. Alzheimers is a horrible disease. In the last month I was resentful and angry. I feel guilty.

Hi Elaine, I thank you for making this video. I had requested you to do so. My husband has end stage pulmonary fibrosis along with pulmonary sarcoidosis and I am going through anticipatory grief. It is so very hard to watch your loved one declining. I so appreciate your sharing what you went through and I am looking forward to your upcoming video where you share more about your situation and Greg's illness. My husband's name is Greg too. We have been together over 42 years now and honestly Elaine, I can't imagine my life without him. I know as you said death is a part of life. But it is still hard to accept. My husband too is not open to have people see him. He has always been a very private person and it has been so hard for him to accept his decline. I have lost six family members in the span of less than three years including my husband, my brother and my father. I lost one of my cats in April and as a write this my oldest kitty is sitting on my lap and I anticipate having to put him to sleep soon (maybe even this week). I know anticipatory grief well and it is very hard on a person physically, mentally, and emotionally. All I can say is God carried me through all that caregiving knowing the outcomes. There was no way I had the strength in myself. God gave me supernatural strength. Your insight and advice is spot on. Blessings to you!

Hi Elaine, you did a great job on this video. So many people need to hear this. I’m sorry for your loss and I’m also sorry that you did not have a good experience with GriefShare. I am a facilitator with Griefshare at my church and have been doing it for a while but my partner and I have both lost our spouse. And you are so right… No one should lead a Griefshare group unless they have suffered the loss of a dear loved one. And, the Lord does make all the difference! ❤

Our trials have a great purpose, they teach us how to run to Jesus, if we didn't have trials and tribulations, we would not have learned, Jesus is our comfort and our healer. In all things give thanks to our Lord. I know it's difficult but we need to do it in order to learn and teach others about Jesus. He took on all our transgressions so we can live in the place he has prepared for us, and have everlasting life with him. Praise God for all he has planned for us. Thank you Jesus.

Great topic, Elaine! My family and I have been through countless trials and some of them we know were sent from the enemy. I fall back on how we got through them and everything always worked out for the better. We’ve had trials that God came through literally at the 11th hour. I’m not joking! God is good and He knows what He is doing. It is very hard sometimes to have that mindset, but if you persevere and keep your trust and faith in God, He will bring you through it.
