Is the the Malcolm Pearce I knew in Bournemouth, who was a student at RCM, worked at Magdalene College School and lives in Oxford? This setting is beautiful.

In the first section, that's the 8ft and 4ft Tubas on the Bombarde. In the second section, where the melody in the left hand, that's the famous Tuba Magna.

Is it just me, or is the iPad in a different place depending upon from which side we view the console? When viewed from the left, the left hand edge of the iPad is to the right of middle C. When viewed from the right it seems further left!

I don't often give praise to young organists BUT this was superb to say the least. Excellent tempi and registration. A hearty well done that man, and a prodigious yes. Personally I find it amusing to see the new Echo stops placed immediately below those of the Bombarde division. 😁

Hi Alex, brilliant performance! Great to hear that you’re now Sub-Organist at Liverpool, very lucky to play such a wonderful instrument. I’m the current organ scholar at Ss. Peter & Paul Bromley and have heard lots of wonderful things about you. Hopefully we will cross paths one day, I would love to play the mighty Willis sometime, let alone every week like you are doing! All the best, Yiming

You are very lucky to play such a "beast", but also very talented. Thank you. Curious to know what mechanism you are suing on the iPad to turn pages ... could not see you do anything, but it dutifully turned for you. What's the secret please?

'Gert van Hoef's improvisation' showcasing this instrument is chill-inducing and ranks with Dr. Fox's finest!
@SirReginaldBlomfield12347 ай бұрын
van Hoef is one of if not THE most dull and uninspiring organists on the planet. You clearly have no taste whatsoever.

I discussed Elgar's choral compositions with a young cathedral musical director, he clearly hadn't understood that Elgar's training had been on the violin so wasn't constrained by the piano.

so are the multiple buttons for each seperate blower? seems kinda weird to me seeing you can't use the whole organ if you don't have a certain blower enabled? but seeing the scale of those things maybe power savings?
@contraposaune10 ай бұрын
Basically, yes. There are two “main” blowers; with additional blowers for the high pressure (30” and 50”) stops, plus the departments located in other parts of the building not supplied by the main blowing plant. When you consider the way the organ is laid out, and how we use it, it’s perfectly logical.
@wouterattheorgan10 ай бұрын
very well done, such different registrations all round while almost not changing the setzer system registration because you have so many manuals haha

Well played, bravo!! That piece isn’t the easiest to play especially the B major middle section. I suppose you have heard it played by the late Dr.Francis Jackson at York Minster using the huge horizontal “Tuba Mirabilis “ on 25 inches of wind pressure? You should contact Ben Morris at the Minster and play Cocker’s Tuba Tune in there. If you played from the mobile nave console, your ears would be ringing after you had played. No kidding, it hits like a brick!!!

Thank you, Fraser! That’s very kind of you! I adore organ music of this period; both of Elgar and of some of his contemporaries and even slightly later composers such as Percy Whitlock. The Five Short Pieces are on my “to record” list!
