@@mikey22355 I am only Diamond one with akuma, and Plat 5 with Ryu, but I have fought and won often against higher ranked opponents. So far I have logged 900h in the game. I switch between both often, but right now Ryu won for me. He may have less tools, but the higher hp pool often made the match for me. But to be fair, when I have lose streaks with any of them, I switch to the other :D. Both are crazy good characters to me.

Im bias cause Im 1600 mr with ryu and dia 5 with Akuma but with these buffs ryu may not be ‘better’ but he just has to be more consistent than Akuma. His damage is so crazy and with pretty simple routes, his pressure and neutral is not the best but he has every tool you need and some great buttons, and he has more health than Akuma of course. I think his matchups are more even than Akuma’s but I still think he loses the mu against Akuma.
