hi! pls help. can windows be updated on a laptop without battery? i removed mine since it's like dead and needs replacement (wc i can't afford right now). if i were to directly plug it to an outlet, can an update still be successful?

Yes Windows can be updated without Battery. Without a battery, the laptop works the same as a desktop computer.

Thank you very much, especially for command key! I successfully updated Dell Latitude E4310 BIOS from A04 to A07 and further to A15 without battery at all. But I went by simpler way: create shortcut for BIOS update .EXE file and modified it's Properties --> Target adding -forceit key after EXE name, then just run shortcut. Voila! :)

Same problem here! The procedure is pretty simple but its not working on my XPS L421X! By the way, I'm a computer engineer! I´ve tried running the cmd prompt from windows and using Rufus and also using Hiren's boot CD....I suspected it was something related to the current bios setup (legacy boot mode, UEFI) so I tried in both modes, using /forceir and -forceit...etc There´s something in some models that are no allowing us to install a newer BIOS

Most probably, the battery is dead. For dead batteries, no solution other than replacement.
