The solo after the vocal is a trumpet, in the trombone register - Cootie, I guess.

Until The Beatles' "Yesterday", this was the most recorded song in the world. I have loved it all my life and at the age of 88. I still do. England, December, 2024.

Watching the crown and this song completely broke me. Losing my parents in my early 20s devastated me...but more recently losing my dear husband has been the most tragic, painful and isolating loss I've ever experienced. 😭🫂😔 Life no longer has any meaning Except to wait for Jesus to take me home 🙏

To all Hoagy lovers. His 2 books Sometimes I Wonder and The Stardust Road are a must. They not only tell about his life but paint a superb picture of how life was like at that time.

Really amazing how the actual melody means nothing to the one who actually wrote it! I mean, I love the way people improvise on standard melodies when they’re taking their queue from the beauties of the original, but this melody is so great In its original form, and what’s happening on this video is not in that category for me!

Im busy trying to figure out why this song is so incredible, and its in all the subtle intonations over the poignant lyrics that sound so 1920s. Im walking by the garden wall beholding some kind of mythical beauty that is out of my grasp but is also all around me.

I heard a story about the tune for this song. Hoagy Carmichael was back in Bloomington for the IU homecoming, and saw an old flame. Stardust was his response.

Heard on my parents radio many times in the early 1940s. Waycross,Ga. I was only 5 or 6 but never forgot. Have no access to see The Crown unfortunately. I was just looking up this song to see if it was appropriate for my one day soon funeral. Brings back such memories of a happy childhood. I was one if the lucky ones. And as an adult I can understand so much more what a treasure was Mr Carmichael.
