What if i added something (say a turret) but forgot to save template, when i go to repair to template will it delete the turret? or will it remain and it only touches the damaged/ missing blocks?
@akevabanshee363214 күн бұрын
Repair pad only repairs damaged or missing blocks, it does not replace blocks. So if you damaged the ship then say re-added some thrusters and a core in any space other than where they where on the pre-damaged build then you would need to remove them before repairing it.
@sajtosrud57616 күн бұрын
Can I still repair a ship to template if the core is gone with like 40% of the ship? Do I have to place a new core exactly where the previous one was?

I only installed the bare minimum to be able to dock to another ship and carry back the wreck, I can remove those parts no problem. My issue is that part of the ship where the core originally was, is entirely missing now, so I was hoping the repair station can rebuild a ship without a core installed at all, and add it back by itself or at least I can briefly attach a temp core somewhere else and replace it once the ship is restored. But I'm getting the blocked error anyways, probably because the remaining half of the ship is lying on it's side.

great guide... how do you dock a HV with docking pads?? do we need to like literally touch the SV/CV mothership? p.s. I have a feeling that EGS is not really for PvP mate... I'm not experienced enough in EGS, but it's more of a building blocks, structures-bases, and ships, than the PvP aspect of it... I come from a long stint in Eve, and not last Elite Dangerous... those are more fitted for PvP with Eve being geared towards that and it's brutal, to say the least...
@akevabanshee363214 күн бұрын
Docking pad just has to touch the ship you are trying to dock to. As for the comments on PvP and how it replates to other games. I don't do PvP as it does not interest me. How this game compares to the others you mentioned? Wouldn't know don't play any of them.

Regarding ship build time in hours, for ships of similar size, it seems you take about half the time to build yours as I do with mine, give or take. I once built a ship took me around 10 months to build over a 19 month period (I took 9 months away 'cos I got really burnt out building it) - so I think you're doing alright Banshee. :D
@akevabanshee36322 ай бұрын
There are outliers to the times I mentioned. The Wedgetail project and few behind the scenes projects are years in the making and very slow going due to multiple factors. However it seems doing these projects on stream seems to add motivation, the schedule adds more structure and a few other factors I'm not thinking of atm that improve efficiency in build times.

Front cockpits with big glass are cool, but no matter how a ship is built I always put a captain's chair in the hangar since I spend most of my time there either changing into an SV or taking the ramp out to loot a POI.

One of my first key bindings was to reassign shields to ctrl + x because I kept hitting x instead of c constantly. I also added a mouse button for the 'f' key and another for the jetpack. One problem I regularly enccounter is when I use the mouse to open containers, using it again often does not close the container. I resort to the escape key to close containers.

I wish I could train my brain to handle more than 6 side buttons on a mouse so that I could bind the jetpack & other convenience keys to it, but alas not in the near future at least.

Hello again Banshee, and thank you again for the review and the kind words. 😉 You may have figured it out by now but when you reviewed my Coyote Tank Destroyer you questioned the different fonts I had used for the "Stats" & "Details" etc titles on the workshop, and as a thank you I wanted to share my little secret so you can do it too to use on your workshop items if you'd like. They're images. 😄 I wrote the words in a photoshop-a-like image editor (I used GIMP... 'cos it's 1 letter away from my name, lol), on a transparent background of course and saved as a png file, then I host those little one-word images on another workshop item (my "Terms, Definitions & Conventions" guide), and then simply paste the link to each, obviously surrounded by [img] tags, in the description for each build. 👍 As for my "Weapons&Shields" device group toggle - if you're opening the Control Panel ("P Menu") to turn on your shields and weapons you're clicking two switches, but if you open the same menu and click on my Weapons&Shields switch, it's doing them both but with one click instead of two. You can still do it through the menu, it's just simplified.... sorta (you don't have to use the Ctrl+Shift+3 keyboard shortcut). There is also instructions in the description and my Tour video (and also hidden off the bottom of the warning LCD, actually) on moving the generators around in the device groups if people are worried about the shields making the generators explode because there aren't enough on by default. 😉 Thank you again, Banshee. 👍
@Wimpoman2 ай бұрын
Oh yeah: turning the Weapons&Shields on will also turn on two weapon control HUDs (LCD Projectors) for the 2 passenger seats in the cockpits; the rear door is not on a sensor so it doesn't open while someone is getting O² and accidentally expose them to hostile ground forces, but there is a Signal Shortcut for it so it can be opened by the pilot (or any seat AFAIK); there is also a Railgun in the nose; I believe you were looking for the Coyote in the collection - that's in the AFHVs collection. ;)

I don't know if I understand what you mean by the question. There are two things so far that have kept me from publishing ships. 1. I am not confident with my handling of blocks to make nice shapes. 2. I build ships "I" can use in my games which are illegal I guess since I use copy paste tricks to add more weapons especially medium turrets than what RE2 allows so I don't kbow if people would want them.
@akevabanshee36322 ай бұрын
Ah yes, I wasn't very clear with the question. I do that sometimes, but I am happy that it led you to ask questions. - In response to your first question: Don't be to hard on yourself, none of the builders started out releasing top notch ships. We shared out builds, ask for feedback and learned to build better together. - As for the worry about the ship having to many turrets that's okay. I publish builds that have turret or device limits turned off on the workshop all the time. I just make sure there is a notice about it in the description and where possible on the thumbnail. In fact some if not all of my most popular builds are ones with turret limits turned off. Build, the way you want to build and most importantly. Have fun!

I made a newbie mistake back in my first vanilla game many hours ago. I disassembled the CV from the plot line and made the flat area into a base. However there were things in the ground that I didn't see and they caused such problems as no empty space to place block even thoght it was a pad and all surrounding blocks were fine. I ended up having to go into god mode and creative to use a block to erase the hidden items and there were several affecting the template.

I quite often take over Zirax bases and they usually have a tower. I place the repair bay at the top of the tower and the console inside. This is for CVs as my carrier has a repair bay inside for smaller vehicles. I have had some issues with an orbital repair bay, but I have a quite large carrier so it is hard to place it low enough without going too low. I keep the settings on automatic with a lot of resources.

Fair to middlin' attempt at a workshop review. Unfortunately you lost me when you tabbed out to verbatim read the workshop post on the first ship. That's partially on me for having expectations of preparation. Also you may wish to look into your volume. It is woefully low, to the point where system volume needs to be cranked to a deafeningly high level to barely hear you. At a "standard" volume for anything else (youtube, empyrion, spotify etc) where volume is well balanced, you are literally unable to be heard. The requirement to change volume to tune in to any of your videos and unpreparedness make it difficult to enjoy the content. E for Effort.
@akevabanshee36327 ай бұрын
I'll look into the audio. As for the "reading the workshop description". That will not change. If a creator takes to the time to write out additional info that the user may find helpful then it's the least I can do to acknowledge their effort in doing so. Many video creators refuse to read descriptions of workshop items they review then miss key items in the build or worse unjustly criticize the build because they are to lazy to read. I've seen people do that and it irks me to no end. So instead of griping about it I decided to do it myself and put my mouth where my money is and try and do better.

I had many copyright strikes on one of my channels a few years ago which wasn't monetised it had around 20+ popular music videos all downloaded from YT, including Rihanna, Jzee, and many more, YT clearly said "this does not affect your channel" and the videos were never taken down even after two years. My point is, it does not affect your standing before you're monetised so I wouldn't worry about it, play whatever music you want, but you will have to remove them when you're monetised.
@akevabanshee36328 ай бұрын
Yeah, I get that, but my thinking is to just get in the habit of abiding by the rules as best I Can so it's second nature when I do get monetized and besides it's less of a headache later anyways. No sense creating a can I kick down the road then have to recycle it later.
