This was posted quite a while ago, but I have been there, probably 1980? My family all live close by and they say this house was used as part of the underground railroad to help the slaves. I just wonder which is true, but I can see someone trying to use it to make money on by making stuff up.

Just an observation. I always wondered if it was smart to display all the aircraft on the flight deck when visiting other countries. Especially Korea. I would think the carriers would be vulnerable to Suprise attacks. I was in a Helicopter carrier in the US Navy back in the late 70's and early 80's. Every time we pulled into port we put on a show.

Hello, 🐦🐦May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." Also, can I share Isaiah 53:5 " But HE was WOUNDED For our TRANSGRESSIONS, he was BRUISED for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His STRIPES we are HEALED." God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). 🌺Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please

Based solely on conjecture of SIU professors, the history of this site has come under dispute. I have seen no evidence to contradict what the tours told us for decades about the third floor. It's amazing how oral histories get whitewashed. Even the mention of Lincoln having stayed in the house gets glossed over. The facts are, Lincoln stayed there while this man, Crenshaw, was a known slave trader. He supported Lincoln's runs for state office. That history I suppose is too inconvenient for SIU and the State Preservation Society. That's my guess. The facts are thus: the State of Illinois bought the site over 20 years ago and then promptly kept it closed to the public while it fell into near ruin, while they have attempted to rewrite the site's history, based on zero actual published evidence I can see. You can't even drive up the access road except under threat of a fine! This isn't the way to "preserve" history, it's the way history gets changed to suit those rewriting it.

Very moving video. I only wish that this place was still open to the public. I only just recently learned about it. It seems that there is a deliberate effort by the state of Illinois to cover up this history. (Edited) btw I LOVED the music. I thought it was creepy. Never mind what others say.

all of the stories associated with the old slave house have been found to be fabricated for tourism. the 3rd floor STALLS were where traveling farm hands slept. the bars and the stories of CELLS were all fabricated by the owners to sell tickets, the bars were made locally and were made around the 50s or 60s, all for show. the man who built it Mr. Crenshaw, did in fact own slaves, but that was in 1818 and he built the house in 1832. there was in fact a revearse underground railroad and crenshaw was in fact tried for selling the contract for an indentured servant to an out of state entity. but the stories that brought the tourists about breeding and largew numbers of slaves are simply untrue.

Why is it always about the blacks? Life in Britain wasnt much better at that time. You dont work you dont eat, you cant afford a bed you sleep in the street. Bare foot children working in mines, mills and up chimneys. The work house, the debtors prison. The press gangs. What about the native americans? The irish? The aboriginals? Dont let BLM brainwash you into thinking it was all US and blacks!

So my mom's parents used to take in foster kids, well my grandma & grandpa & my aunt & the foster kid went to this place back in the early 90s. Well the foster kid named nika WOULD NOT go in, she felt something. So grandpa stayed outside with her sitting say a table, when they got to the top floor, they looked down to watch nika get thrown backwards of the table by an invisible force. She wasn't hurt, just shaken up. I wasn't there, so I'm going off what they told me.
