Loved the video. New 310GS owner here in Melbourne (first ADV bike). Are you able to share some of those tracks around Wombat and Mt Macedon?

Thanks for this comparison. I still remember seeing the KLX650 in magazines and showrooms when they were in production. Some years later when I was old enough for a license, I bought a KLX250. It was a great learner bike. I also like the KLX450r in particular given it can still be bought new and the old school tech (carb, no abs,tcs assists etc) really appeals to me as well as a backup kickstart as I've been left stranded a couple times due to dead batteries. Always seems to happen when you're riding alone and at the bottom of a gully or in soft sand. What can you say about the maintenance schedule/reliability of the KLX450r? The maintenance schedule looks pretty intense, but I imagine that's more for racing use.
@ausetour500Ай бұрын
The KLX450r, has a much more enduro maintenance schedule, according to the ‘book’ its a new piston at 1500km, how ever i suspect this might be if used for race / events, its not going to enjoy the open highway, sustained speed, in my opinion, but for inner Urban, bush/trailer single track, and time at the MX track its on point. Simple, design, minor changes in 2010, and graphics etc since then, bunch of crew have set them up as an ADV option, although i have not, and the KLX650 works a treat on the open highway, Motard set up, and the bush, similar in many ways to the DR650, given the low tech set up. Large tank and good to go.

Very interesting seeing the two bikes side by side like that. Think the 450 mt is the obvious choice for me now I’m trading in my big bikes for something a lot lighter and more nimble, who knows it maybe the unicorn we’ve been waiting for.

Interesting comparison. I have a modified g310gs with level 2 rally raid suspension etc...and I have a great time with it...but if I were buying a small adv bike again, I can't help but think the 450mt would be a no brainer. Do you think the 450mt offers enough to switch from your g310...or would you be looking at something more than the 450mt as a next bike?
@ausetour5002 ай бұрын
I think side by side, there is about $600 diff to out towards the GS, and it will come down to comfort with shape/size of the bike, if ok with a longer bigger bike the MT, smaller / nimble the GS. As a solo rider the GS would get into less trouble, in a group ride perhaps the MT has more range/challenging potential…
@ausetour5002 ай бұрын
How is/different the GS with the stage 2 and I am hissing the 20mm lift?
@adthar93402 ай бұрын
@ausetour500 as I am a taller rider, it sounds like the mt would've been a great option in this price and size range...but modding the g310 to work well for me has been a hoot! No regrets.
@adthar93402 ай бұрын
@ausetour500 the level 2 Rally Raid kit is a huge improvement over the standard bike. I don't think it's so much the extra travel and height, but more the improved spring rates and rear damper. I would say, yes, you are missing out... but it's then a question of how much you would miss the $2k. For me, I was bottoming out easily in rougher off-road stuff. Now, I can confidently get air under the wheels and land with only the rarest of bottom out events.

what kind of range are you getting from this ebike? specs claim 70km-100km+... is that true in real life?
@ausetour500 Жыл бұрын
Hello Mario, with what i have seen 100km+ is doable, that being said, I ride around a natural (to me) 27 kph, so the bike is not using much battery to assist my ride, hills, take of at traffic lights etc, and or at night i tend to use seperate ‘USB’ lights in place of the fitted front light, also for lowering the battery drain.
