I do not but I've had numerous people ask me that so I will make one.

I had to listen to this over two days. It was such a foreign idea to me Chris. I love sports and played them but never had a TV as an adult and didn't get into team affiliation. Don't know for sure, but seems more like a guy thing, though I know someone will call me out. I'm ignorant as don't do social media either. I loved listening to you and Jeff chewing the fat. You have great chemistry together and it felt a bit like a movie. I tried to think of what the female, sorry for being sexist, counterpart would be and drew a blank. My women friends and I talk about emotional things, politics, religion, and food but I don't see any strong inclination to claim ownership of any of it. Interested to hear if you have any reaction to this as a mostly male dominated thing. Thanks. I look forward to more of your conversations. Wonderful!

Why is this perfect? I thouht for rest&digest we need to longer exhale than inhake?
@thischrisirwin4 ай бұрын
This is perfect breathing as defined in James Nestor's book "Breath" and mimics the cadence of things like chanting and other practices used in various indigenous cultures. I've found it very effective. However there are other practices like what you are referring to and delineated in books like "Heart, Breath, Mind" by Dr. Leah Lagos which talk about a 40/60 inhale to exhale ratio (Resonance Breathing). Also effective. I plan to record a video of this exercise as well. Feel free to check out my "Slower Exhales" video that uses a fixed inhale of 4 seconds and slowly increases the exhale time all the way up to 15 seconds. Ultimately, it's all about trying different things and seeing what works for you as an individual.

Thanks for another wonderful conversation Chris. You have a rich community in the people you speak with. We can't always find people we can open up with around us, but we can always have terrific conversations with ourselves that sooner or later, transfer into in- the -flesh conversations. I feel constantly amazed by the random people I have rare moments with, just by staying open. Reading is magic too. Many ways to find community.

It's a track I created for the exercise. Are you looking for purely the music or the voiceover too and just the whole thing as an mp3?

Yes! I love the waves. I would like it without the ticks every few seconds. Just pure music. And without voice

Excellent. Lots of wisdom here. Very much on the same page. I agree with the Jenga/straw-that-breaks the-camels-back analogy (or "threshold theory" as my friend Sela Weave calls it) Agree many miss the link with [chronic] stress/fear and the immune system suppression. Well done to you guest for recovering from Lyme.

It’s important to note also though that that not everybody who is chronically ill experiences chronic stress or fear. I have heard Dan Neuffer state that you can be calm and happy but still have your nervous system in a state of fight or flight. This rarely gets talked about but it’s important to know. So for anyone reading who is chronically ill, but mostly at peace, please stick around! ❤
