This is great and got me started on learning this amazing solo. Check out bar 22 and 23 though; you’ve written an F# minor triad grouping of notes, and in the recording it sounds like he goes down and back up in diatonic thirds, which in this case would be (starting in bar 20) C# A F# D B, and then back up, D F# and then the rest is right. Thanks for this awesome transcription !

That's not Autumn Leaves, I didn't hear anything close to that, probably an exercise in calisthenics for saxophone.

its an improvisation. I clearly heard the dna of the melody in his solo and one part at the end was almost the melody

The older I get the more Dexter Gordon rises up my list of tenor sax favorites. Dang, he's sooo good. Always leaves me wanting more.

This great, thanks. Can you provide transcription for Besame Mucho by Art Pepper is in his Art Pepper Quartet album: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGnbiGWrfJp-pqs ; and The Shadow of Your Smile by Sonny Stitt is in his album: Just the Way It Was: Live At The Left Bank 1971, including the solo, that would be great.

How can you call this masterful piano solo when it's only ONE hand? 🤔 Last time I saw Kenny play he used both of his hands as do most pianists.
@jazzlanguage1019 ай бұрын
You think a transcription of the right hand from a jazz great like Kenny Barron can't be masterful? You are correct in noting it's a transcription of the right hand, but that does not negate its masterful melodic lines and vocabulary. Thanks for checking out our transcription, happy practicing.

This is DEXTRIMUS PRIME at his very best; physically, mentally, and artistically. I believe he was living and working in Europe at this time. If one learned this solo in all 12 keys they would have the tools to improvise just about anything. Hell learn it in C and work the rest out later.
