This is exactly what I needed! My company just officially moved from 1973 to 2007, and in doing so it reset my license system variable and I didn't know how to fix it. Everyone in my group is grateful that you made this video because now we can get back to work!

Very interesting and useful function. But if I use this function with TC, after releasing the assy as deformable (say revision A), if I want to use it in another assy in a newly deformed state, I would need to create an new revision (i.e. B) to be able to update the assy?

Hello Matt Martin, just watched rhe Video about PMI. I have a more specific question regarding PMIs in assemblies. Today we have drawings of our assemblies how they are mounted to a surrounding geometry. We made in our old system a container with that surrounding geometry that is switched on in the views of the drawings. Now we want to do that with PMI in NX. The problem comes up with the surrounding geometry. Our procedure is now to take the assembly in NX, put in the PMI, including e. g. texts that refer to the surrounding geometry (for example in a assembly that is bolted to some steelworks we have text like "conserve threads of steelworjs with agent xy". Then we save that assembly with its views and switch to tc vis, were we load the assembly, and additionally the surrounding geometry and then we safe that as a session to the assembly. Now my question: Do you have any idea, how we can have the same effect by only using NX? We have the tc vis in our production where the guys there open the assembly and view the PMI. Thabks in advance, Matthias

I've added a link to the part files in the Description. These are saved in NX10 so they should work for most folks out there. Enjoy.

I have a question, you stated that you can add nodes or points after the deformable is done. How can you do that, I haven't been able to figure out how to get a node or point in between an existing point node already.
@martinmattj4 жыл бұрын
Amanda, there are a couple things here. The first thing I look at is the Point on Curve or Line Snap Point. NX has made a bunch of changes from when I first recorded this video on what the snap toolbar looks like but the tool is still there. You must also be in the Routing Application to make the change. In regular Modeling application, I can manipulate the hose ends and the space-reservation will update but I cannot actually change (add or subtract points) the Route Spline object. Check your Part Navigator in the Assembly file to see that there is actually a deformation feature. I just tried this in NX1926 and, while in the Mechanical Routing application, I can add points to the spline and manipulate them.

Can you simulate the hose running along a wall? I mean, is it possible to constraint it to a wall so that it runs tangent or parallel (with a small clearance) to the wall? Thank you!
@Sherpa7464 жыл бұрын
Yes you can by using Stock Offset Points or Stock Offset Surface. (MAX_PATH_STOCK_DIA/2.0) controls the offset. If the points created are associative to the surface, then if the surface moves the points and space reservation move too. You can also simulate droop or slack between tie points with Slack Mode.
