I am going through the ATPL process now, this was really helpful

It does not fly emission free that’s just a lie. What’s the CO2 load of making a battery and you don’t get the electricity from leaves….please prove it is better? How long does the battery last and how many tonnes of CO2 does it take.
@crosswindperspective27 күн бұрын
This was a great episode - thanks for your insights both. I'm convinced that electric is one of the ways forward for aviation's sustainability, we just have to get through the teething stages.

Great to see the podcast back! Very professional setup, and great content. The only thing I’d request please, if you’ll excuse a suggestion, is to please upload in at least 1080p. I like watching these on the tv and 720p is just a little poor in terms of quality, and I’ve no doubt given the setup you have your cameras could look really crisp in the higher quality settings 😀

Hi Tom, thank you for taking the time to give us some great feedback. I had not considered this, but will look into how practical this maybe from a processing time aspect and give it a go. Thanks Simon

Only problem i have found with RT practical exam, even though people pass exams, seems total waste of time. From the 70's i have seen students need to test, to no test, back to testing with no real difference in quality. Mostly depends on what their instructor is teaching on the PPL course. Also have concern of charges costing more than a final skill test.
@flybobbie1449Ай бұрын
Cap 413 went from a 20 page document to over 300 pages. The basics get lost in such a document. All RT could be written on 1 sheet of A4 paper for average PPL.

And then of course ATC around the country requesting non standard read backs, so waste of time learning standard phrasing.

My late husband skippered this aircraft and G-AMPO (another DC3) in 1986 from Baggington. He flew me and our baby son to Staverton so he could then take part in a display. He used to say these aircraft were an absolute dream in the air but a b**** on the ground.

I’ve been considering doing a Lapp Lapl or ppl for a few years now and I think I’ve decided I want to try a discovery flight to see if it’s for me, however i have a bit of a silly question, how smart do you have to be to be a pilot? My maths isn’t great and I know nothing about navigation. I’m worried that I won’t be smart enough to get through it any tips?
@almatflyingacademy22 күн бұрын
You don’t need to be smart necessarily, just willing to learn and determined.

Great video, thanks. Please would you kindly advise me how much approximately it would cost for a night rating add-on (for a LAPL)? Also, if you take your training and pass LAPL/PPL in a Cessna 172 for an example, does that mean I am limited to only flying that single engine airplane or could I hire a Piper or Robin with my licence? Thank you! Keep up the podcasts!

As I was always told never let the aircraft take you anywhere your brain didn't get to five minutes before. I was talked through the radio calls from the beginning of my first lesson and I firmly believe that's the way to go.

Hi Okipi. I don't see you in our enquiry system. Please go to almat.co.uk where you can find free guides and get a trial lesson and find out how to get a free consultation subject to qualifying. If you are not in the UK we have a page with specific advice on how international students can enrol.

My first ever trial flight was at Almat, back in 2014, in a 172. That was my first taste of the amazing experiences that followed years later. In 2020, I finally made some major changes in my life and started flying training. Recently, I was awarded Air Pilots PPL scholarship. There were 750+ applicants, 33 were interviewed, and 8 were selected. I'm on track to complete my PPL this summer. This is great information for student pilots/aspiring pilots. I would love to join you on a podcast one day.

But if the minimum requirement is 30 hr and i still need 45/50 hr to learn you technically don't save any money compared to a ppl
@almatflyingacademy11 ай бұрын
The ppl by comparison has a national average pass time of around 60 hours, so 15 hours greater than the minimum. So technically whichever way you look at it there is a 15 hour difference between ppl and LAPL

Brilliant podcast, very valuable information from a professional operator, especially to the students like myself. In my opinion, it would be quite beneficial for us the students to spend a day in ATSU (providing the airport rules allow it) in a busy day to face what operators go through during their shift. I have also enjoyed the funny bit about conversations between ATSU and the pilots, it would be interesting to hear TOP 5 the funniest conversations and TOP 5 the most dangerous situations they ever had while at work. Well done, keep it up. 5⭐

Thanks Neil. Yes we do get the same license in the end regardless you studied integrated or modular the question is how difficult will it be to get employed as I hear rumours that airline companies prioritise those who went through integrated course and that is my biggest concern. Thanks a lot.

Why this irritating and inappropriate music?... worse than elevator music. Just the sound of this beautiful aircraft would be great.
