Great voice for ballads. Yes, I agree, I think with a little more rehearsal this would have been a big hit for him, but if Sinatra had just recorded it I'm sure there would be no way.

I also noticed he seems rather shy here, nerves perhaps, as later appearances show a more hearty and extroverted and dynamic personality.
@BillM-ti5ef Жыл бұрын
He's pattering his singing after the singers from the previous generation, a wise choice on his part. He was well-aware that the voice in LIGHTNING STRIKES can not be the same as in this number where he doesn't dip up into falsetto range of which he is famed. Nice presentation with a more internalized, gentle, and otherworldly quality which proves his versatility.

There's a certain sweetness to him which he put to good use in this song.

At least he doesn't blast away and can sing soft in addition to loud.

How old was he there? Extremely boyish looking and involved within the song though I note stage fright and shyness. To think in a few short years that he was more at ease.
@BillM-ti5ef Жыл бұрын
There's no falsetto to be found here.
@BillM-ti5ef Жыл бұрын
He takes the 'softly' literally. This is a very sensitive rendition and he seems to be really into it. His sad demeanor such as the lowering and closing eyes movements do show quite a contrast as Mike Douglas says as this song is the opposite of Lightning Strikes, Rhapsody In The Rain, etc.

How young he looks. He seems rather nervous here. His voice is not fully developed as it was to become.
