Some of the boulders up there, according to a Uni of W professor, came from the seabed waaaaaaaayyy offshore a long time ago. Must have been one heck of a Tsunami. Cheers!

IF your car has a rear fog lamp, use it INSTEAD of the hazard-warning lamps. It is the stronger lamp function, and allows the hazard-warning lamps to be kept for their designed purpose; breakdowns and crash scenes.

I know this is old but after reading articles and coming across this please don't feed wild Kangaroo's they can become incredibly aggressive around food and when fed things like potato chips even vegetables it can make them very very sick and they can die

I know what you mean. But amazingly Kangaroos behave different to kids. If it was me trying to poke it, it will possibly serve me with strong dual-kick.

you are incorrect in assuming this airplane is trying to descend quickly the airplane made a turn, that is all. if pilot needs to descend quickly he will extend the spoilers and you'll see them raised on the top of the wing. it's almost impossible to misjudge the distance because there are dozens of indications of the distance to the airport in the flight instruments. there's a moving map display as well as a numerical indicator that shows the distance to the airport, there is also a vertical navigation path which shows whether or not the pilot is too high or too low for the distance to the airport.

Thank you for your information. But I thought the video was about the spoilers. Just play again, you will see them opening. In past 15 years, I flown 14 times. So, just talking out of my experience here. I never had plane dropping altitude that first. Here is one more story for you: On a flight from Malaysia to Sydney, Boeing 747. We are looking at the displayed GPS tracking over Australian map. As soon as the plane entered the Australian Plane Land (Dessert), the plane disappeared of the GPS. At least for two hours. The reason I tell you this because of the software/hardware glitch, that could occur at any point.

In that case, the captain likely turned off the passenger GPS information for some reason. For example the cabin electronics were making it difficult for him to make long distance radio contact, so he may have disabled electronics on the airplane, etc. The GPS system is very reliable and there are several of them on a 747. Also in addition to the GPS, 747's have what's called an inertial navigation system, and there are 3 of them. These track the aircraft's position using gyroscopes and air data. It's nearly impossible for an aircraft to get lost as there are so many ways to find yourself (radio triangulation etc). Don't worry too much about these kinds of things too much. The biggest danger on an aircraft is fire, explosion, and depressurization like what likely happened to the recent Malaysian Airlines flight.
