Asalamalaykum sweet sis, enjoyed your clip, if you could please do some homework about what Islam tells us about marrying up to 4 wives, the reason it came to be, and the strict rules around it. It would be most appreciated. 🤲🏾❤

Half-baked truths. Is Islam and Christianity the only reference to cultures that these African Kids know of? How were African living before those two got here?

Curious about the marriage and divorce process in Senegal, especially the process of a traditional divorce including the role the Iman, parents and elders play.

PPS. Thank You again for a great explanation of this permissible practice in Islam which however is not a right or privilege it is more of an additional obligation that a high value man takes on and bears in the right manner.

PS. Dear Sister Isatou , the correct term is polygyny which is a man having more than one wife as opposed to the general term polygamy which means marriage in which a spouse of either sex may have more than one mate at the same time.

I have just seen your video today. As a senegalese man I would like to drop some words. The pros and cons you listed are true but limited to your definitions. Regarding the cons I would simply like to add that most moslems, nowadays, cannot afford to marry a second wife, financially and psychologically. If anybody says they may/might…those are just empty words. Regarding the second con, even when you are dating, the whole family is involved. That’s normal and other cultures envy us in this regard. This is actually one of the reason divorce isn’t so popular in senegal. Don’t get me wrong, there are many divorcees in the moslem and christian communities, but couples where their entire families are involved are less tend to divorce so easily. Yeah, I am originally from Senegal and I am christian.

I personally believe divorce has its merit. It is reasonable to dissolve an unhealthy marriage and therefore divorce is likely in this in such cases. There are many people who find themselves in toxic relationships and endure all kinds of abuses in the name of "I cannot get divorced because what will people say" which doesn't help anyone either. So is it really a bad thing at the end of the day? I don't condone broken families but this is merely me putting the matter into perspective. It's almost rare to come across a Senegalese person who is Christian and not Muslim. Wow. That's interesting.
