Such a beautiful idea, and such a thoughtful way to preserve family history while making the chair a part of your home. That chair has gone through many phases and looks like it has been well loved through all of them, including this one. The chair is allowed to evolve with its family, and I'm sure your child will have precious memories of the form it's taken now, and their children too of whatever shape it takes on then. A beautiful heirloom, and tradition over time.

I think it's great, tips:right angles supports under the shelves and removing that lower board at the end of the trunk as it could still be used as storage or a cool built in desk. or is a leaf is added additional sleeping space.
