Maybe the difference between now and then is animators getting at least 4 hours of sleep daily instead of 1 or 2. The tech is more advanced now and yet for some odd reason there's this phenomenon where production in general requires people to work around 80+ hours a week without the pay to show for it! I'd like to think that the multitude of people in entertainment would rather have more sleep if they can't get higher wages...imo.
