Faeries was my absolute childhood favorite book. Rediscovered it recently and so exciting to look through it again. Total feel your love for that one! Also now I totally need to get my hands on Good/Bad Fairies and some the others you mentioned. Wonderful collection and ty for the heads up. :)

Great video from a wonderful channel. Art books have provided me a much-needed escape from real life. When life was difficult I'd set up my easy chair with coffee, a desk lamp and a stack of art books beside me. They kept me going during the hardest times. My art books are the best investments I ever made. My 4 favorite books are: - Wonderworks by Michael Whelan - Spectrum 27 by John Fleskes - Infinite Worlds by Vincent DiFate - Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson

Hey friend! Not sure if your channel is still active, do you remember what color it faded into and how long it took? Thank you so much!

Hi! You can see some old photos where it was fading on my Instagram, like this one: instagram.com/p/BaEbDcjAYf2/?igshid=99wdx4gkyx4z I remember it needing a touch up at like 6-8 weeks and then I let it fade. Lasted a lot longer on the ends where I’d bleached.

@@naomifarr6295 thank you so much Naomi! My hair is fully bleached so I might not do it in the end, too scared of commitment! Have a great day queen!

I used to read and look at Faeries book when I was a child too. Now I left my job in advertising to follow the path of Brian Froud, drawing.

I also adore Fairies so much. Just found a very similar designed, beautiful book, which you guys might like as well. Not trying to advertize or anything, but it looks so strikingly similar that I feel obliged to mentioned it to fellow fantasy art lovers. It's called Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You.

How do you find Warby Parker vs Zenni? Is Warby Parker worth the extra money?
@naomifarr62956 жыл бұрын
Great question! I did order a pair of glasses from Zenni last year and while I found the quality of the lenses to be great, the frames just do not fit my face at all so I never wear them. So, kind of a waste of money. If they had a home-try on program like Warby Parker it would be great, but to my knowledge they do not. In my experience, Warby Parker ended up being only like $30 more when all was said and done and I had the assurance that I loved the way they fit and looked.
@naomifarr62956 жыл бұрын
They both have good coatings. You can read about the Warby Parker Lenses here: www.warbyparker.com/lenses and the Zenni lenses here: www.zennioptical.com/c/faq#lenses-faq

Question: what do you do with ARCs you want to unhaul? I hear you can't sell them or donate them to libraries so are they just thrown away to recycle?? :(
@naomifarr62956 жыл бұрын
No, you definitely cannot sell them! It says right on them not for resale. But I've donated tons of ARCs to libraries! I've donated to three different libraries in VT / NH in the last few years and they have always been very happy to take them. Each library may be different though so it is always good to ask. This last stack I gave half of them to a friend and the other half to my local library : )

Glad to hear about The Queen's Rising--it had mixed reviews at the start but sounded intriguing. Oh no about the Ink Iron and Glass (I've been eyeing that one). I've been a bit hesitant on Ace of Shades--I had issues with Daughter of the Burning City in terms of relating and feeling for the side characters enough before everything started happening. I do agree that her imagination is great though!

Very sorry to hear the news. Happy that you have your cats and their awesome eyes to brighten your spirits! I know it seems bleak at the edge of winter, when days turn dark and the air seems bitter. Once golden leaves darken, bright flowers wither to dust, and it feels like life has crumbled to a pile of rust. It's never long, however, before seasons change for the better. Cold ice will melt away, leaving fertile soil eager to play. The skies will warm, the flowers will bloom, so take heart, my friend, for spring will be here soon. Sending positive thoughts your way!

Thanks for recommending this video, loved the way you talk about Tower of Thorns because I love books that are comforting and make me feel cozy. I'm not sure if this will make you feel better about the accents thing or not but I follow a Scottish booktuber who has mentioned before that the only people who get dialogue right (when doing dialects) for works set in Scotland are Scottish writers usually so maybe since Juliet Marillier isn't Irish maybe she was worried about getting the dialects wrong? I know she does a lot of Irish/ancient Irish fiction but I think I remember with Heart's Blood only the names, places and spells were old Irish. I could be entirely wrong on this though.
@CarolynsReadingRamblings6 жыл бұрын
Just discovered your channel by searching Juliet Marillier and this was a great haul! I like your taste in books. I have heard great things about the Ink and Bone series and I also have the whole Blackthorn and Grim trilogy and I am about 150 pages into Dreamer's Pool and loving it! (But it has been so long since I picked it up that I am tempted to start over now). Have you read any of these yet?
@naomifarr62956 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks so much for watching. I have not yet read the Ink and Bone series, but I read the Blackthorn and Grim trilogy about a year ago and absolutely LOVE them. Would highly recommend. I talk about the first two in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2alhoOLfMaNmdE but I don't remember if I've reviewed Den of Wolves... ♡

Naomi Farr Thanks for the quick reply! And oops, when I saw this video I thought it was just from this past December, didn't look at the year lol. Yes, I love The Faerie Handbook! I posted a review on my blog when it was released: sweetvioletbeauty.com/2017/11/book-review-faerie-handbook/ And yes, I am a long-time subscriber of Faerie Magazine :) I am familiar with Fae Magazine too but have never subscribed as I am in the USA and they are in the UK, so it makes more sense to subscribe to Faerie Magazine for me.

Question. Are these books based on actual legends and folklore? I'm making a guide of various creatures (including, folkloric, mythical, and magical) and I wanted to know so I can add more to my list of sourcebooks
@naomifarr62956 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you mean by "actual" legends and folklore, but yes several of these contain elements of legends and folklore from real cultures (like the Faeries book) or are based on legends and folklore (like Tolkien's works). I would say the main one you should check out to see for yourself is 'Faeries' by Brian Froud and Alan Lee.
@diegogarcicruz61346 жыл бұрын
Naomi Farr Thanks. In “actual” I meant that the author didn’t make up anything or add to the story
