Yes, there are rare artists that, like fine wine, get so wonderfully better as they age and this song expresses and demonstrates this so well. Thank you, John!

a beautiful read of this dylan tune. john makes the sorrowful so beautiful it aches. I've known much sadness in my life, John makes it tolerable, even beautiful in its purity. Thank you John.

Beautiful rendition. I've been listening to the recorded version quite a lot in the past year while grieving the loss of someone very close tome. Decided to look up some live versions of the song and watched the 2015 version then this one and now I"m sitting here in tears. What a beautiful song.

I’m a big fan of John Gorka and I love how he interacts with his audience. He's so entertaining and a delight to watch. The crowd in this “Austin City Limits” segment is lucky to have him live. If you haven’t heard Gorka perform live, check out this clip of him singing the “Gypsy Life.”👍

Well Johnny.. I spent 14 months starving.. I never wanted for anything, I consider myself rich....good railroad job got my wife a nice convertible for our anniversary food in fridge.. Lou Armstrong had eggs and milk in his fridge and said same.. never be hungry.. people (white).. upset with that.. but they never got him the steaks.. he probably had his fill w/kings and Queens.. this song I heard on WFUV.. when I worked in Patterson, any time it would be tough.. ..I'm gonna reach.. like old trees don't happen in a hurry.. that would be redundant. Thanks.. I'm old and in the way.. this song means more now to me then back then.

I’ve had the good fortune of seeing John Gorka at festivals and many venues over the years, from the young, dark-haired traveler seen here, to the wisdom-gray-haired master performing at The Root Cellar hete in Pittsburgh. Thank you, John, for taking us with you. I got hooked on you when you sang Where The Bottles Break, at the 1992 Mariposa Festival in Toronto. Awesome!

You look like you found God on Mt. Sinai and went white and half crazy, but it's a great look. Keep 'em coming my friend. Had all your songs loaded alphabetically in the player and drove for an hour and we were still in the B's. Gonna have to drive all the way out west to get to everything. Be well!

“Let Them In was made into song by John Gorka from a poem found in a hospital in the Philippines during World War II. The nurse that found the poem kept it all these years until the recent war brought out all the memorabilia. Luckily, her daughter sent a copy to John" - the war the nurse was moved by was Gulf War 1, ‘91

John Gorka has been my favorite singer-songwriter since mid-90s. The distinctive imagery, deep emotion and quirky humor of his lyrics backed up by his resonate baritone voice drew me in the first time I heard “I Don’t Feel Like A Train Anymore” on little missionary radio station out of Nome, Alaska. I remember calling the DJ, who happened to be my girlfriend at the time, and asking her, “I love that song, who was that?” Since then John’s music has traveled with me on road trips and river trips across the country and just kicking around the house. His artistry has enriched every mile of my journey. I watched Tales from the Tavern the other night, and now this one. Can’t thank you enough, John, for posting these. It’s been fun growing “old and gross” with your music.

So many years since he wrote this, but the lyrics are fitting to what is happening right now where I live (in Idaho.) Right down to the drive in theater demolished. Where there was corn and potatoes growing, there's storage units and garish, oversized houses

I have always thought his song describes my brother-in-law perfectly back in the day however I now realize that it goes much, much deeper than simply a party life as it goes to just LIFE and all it entails good, bad and hopefully good again.
