Excellent Video and pretty timely for where I am in journey now. I have Single and Multi Engine Commercial, just shy of 500 hours total. One question that I have is how does one go about growing those connections outside of their home airport? I often worry about just showing up at someone's hangar or meeting them on the ramp and coming across as opportunistic. I am sure there is a correct approach, but the opportunities that I have had thus far have been organic, and cold calling has never been a strong suit for me. Thanks for all you do. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

first you must be under 50, second you need to get 2000 plus hours, many employers want turbine time as well. Let’s not forget the type rating, those are expensive to say the least, so good luck.

I think the SIC/PIC type rating cost is really really low and it realistic. Most jets are in the tens of thousands to get a type rating. Some are 50,60,80,100 Thousand dollars for a type rating.

Nancy smashed a plane into KIAH so hard during her IOE that the plane had to be written off. That’s why she is off social media. Hope this helps. She is still apparently training. We all start somewhere, it’s “training” for a reason I suppose.

@@animallover7072KIAH is Houston airport, and IOE stands for Initial Operating Experience. Right after you finish training at the airlines you get sent to IOE and you basically do trips with a check airman before you’re officially let go and fly the actual line. As far as I know the information regarding Nancy is a rumor that is is very possibly true but not confirmed.

IOE is initial operating experience. That means she was training in the 767 with a check airman after getting a type rating in the simulator. It’s required in all airlines to fly IOE after your type rating.

Have you thought how maybe she doesn’t have time. It takes a lot of work and hours to create content. Nancy is an amazing pilot, and she has the experience to land any plane she’s working, Nancy is very thorough and follows the rules. Before she was working a schedule that allowed her to create content, the schedules with United I imagine are more hectic and commercial is not the same as private.

Great Video thanks for including a variety departure clearances. Do you have one regarding approach clearances? um how do you get a "8" or "9" in a squawk code 2849 (~7:19 in the video)? transponders have a 4096 code possibility and use an Octal code so no 8 or 9.

Your Piper looks like a beautiful aircraft. I had a couple of questions. What year is it? How would you compare it to the C172? I like both and I am curious what you think. Thanks for the video,. it was helpful!
@flyGIRLKelley
@flyGIRLKelley Жыл бұрын
It was a 2006. I loved it! There are pros and cons to low wings vs high wings. I felt like it was more stable than a 172 but the visibility below you is limited whereas the visibility above you is limited in a 172. It could also be problematic to get in and out of because there is only one door, on the right side. For someone who is taller or has limited mobility, it would be more challenging to get situated.

What is income like in these type of part 91 operations? What are the schedules like? Thanks!
@flyGIRLKelley
@flyGIRLKelley Жыл бұрын
The income varies. I would expect, especially as you build time and experience, that it will increase. I have not had many overnight trips overall. Plus, you pick and choose which trips, or flights, you want to take. So, you can determine your schedule at some level. I have found that the demand ebbs and flows. There are weeks that I have a lot of opportunities to fly, and weeks where there aren't many flights. Most of my trips are day trips. Therefore, I'm back home at the end of the day.
