Hmm a couple of common reasons I’ve seen for scrapping designs are: 1) Features not being within the budget; 2) Not testing well with sample groups; or 3) Retailers/audience feedback about being ‘too scary’ and therefore unappealing to kids. I really don’t know why we didn’t get her but as for 1) Perhaps the sculpted out cheek lines and eyebrows would’ve been too expensive to do on top of everything else. Although, if making a single new sculpt constitutes the entire new expense then that strikes that out of the question because it’d cost the same to produce the final release face sculpt or this one. 2) It could’ve been that the specific kids they brought in to test (if they did a testing on this) preferred more ‘subdued’ features. This would make sense because the vast majority of G1 MH has a nose more similar to the final release. But I think it’s worth noting that Garrett Sander acknowledges that sample groups aren’t the end all be all because they can have kind of a limited scope. 3) Personally, I don’t think the eyebrows and cheek lines leaned too far into monster elements to warrant this but you know how Karens can be 🤷🏻‍♀️

:( I know! I was so disappointed. I've always admired LOL for their high quality but could never really get into them because of their eyes. The more appealing (to me) face aside, these elevated clothes designs got me really excited. So cool to see how they fierce-end the characters' initial designs! I wonder if they're getting cancelled because they're not selling well with kids....?

Hehe we’re in the same boat. G1 is just top notch. As a kid, I thought they looked kinda weird because I was so used to G3s but now I really just love the vintage look. (Although I can admit some G1 ponies do look strange like the BBEs HAHAH)
