The choreographers, just like composers, get lost in the shuffle. Great dance routines don't create themselves, and great songs don't write themselves. Let us not forget the person responsible for possibly the best onscreen choreography in the history of American cinema - Michael Kidd.

Such a beautiful fluid and graceful dance. Never get tired of watching it. The way Cyd Charisse moves with such elegance and grace is a joy to behold. And Fred partners her so well. It is pure romance.

I love the fact that, 25 years after "The Band Wagon" had been released, Gilda Radner (of blessed memory) and Steve Martin paid a lighthearted, memorable homage to "Dancing in the Dark" on Saturday Night Live.

After all the years seeing Fred with his dance partners, I have concluded, His dance partners had to be better than him, all of them were, He danced forward, the woman danced the same steps in reverse, backwards, and on the spin around stay in step with Fred when facing the camera. Most amazing foot work. Ginger Rogers really brings this home watching her dance with Astaire, her foot work, backwards to his forward motion pushing her backwards. I over looked the fact, He would always make them look great.

I don't like ballet, or dance, but i have to say that you need to have an amount of technical skill and hard work and....well i won't extend my self. Cid was a very elegant lady and a really good dancer, Fred was also elegant, although it is cinema, so maybe they did that many times until was perfect, you need to know what you're doing to make that performance. But we all have to say that she was amazing, because we tend to talk about Fred, but she was indeed amazing and technically better than him.
@eduardooliverosanca41383 ай бұрын
Well, must say before everyone starts shouting at me, that there were dancers in Hollywood better than Fred, like Kelly for example, but it is true that he has an elegance in what he does or could do, that it's unique to him and I'm not talking about claque, I don't know the word in English. I mean that he can make dance a fucking cloth hanger or whatever the name in English. He had something else. And I don't like dance.
