You don't have to pull the intake to change the plugs. I have the exact same vehicle. Just use a long extension with a swivel joint between the extension and the spark plug socket. Two and three are tight, but it dies fit.

I have fixed the grounds, and it has rarely done it. But it did do some codes the other day and I think the TIPM still needs replaced. Just haven't had the money to be able to replace it right now. I have replaced the headlight assemblies, put LED headlights and taillights in, and fixed the trim pieces. The TIPM will be an easy fix once I can get one for it.

The only thing I noticed was it idling a little higher on startup a little longer. But it. Could have been cause it was still pretty cold out. It started running a lot smoother after the flush like there was a compression issue that it fixed. I have since sold the car and it has been running well for the person who has bought it. That's all I know right now.

If you're having odd electrical issues on that era of Chrysler vehicles, It's probably the TIPM module and not the connectors.
@Andrew_Stoffel

Yeah, for sure! Check out my other PT videos to see where I talk more about those TIPM's! But this is sometimes all it is, so it is worth trying this out before getting another TIPM off eBay or at the junkyard. This costs a lot less and if it works, you're good to go! ☺

I saw that on eBay and almost bid on it, buy logistics to get it to Canada didn’t seem worth it. Be very interested to hear what it needs to fix it. They had given up on the local dealerships who seemed unable to resolve the issue. You got a good deal. I have the non GT version and love it.
@Andrew_Stoffel

No way, that's crazy! Yeah, I am super happy with the purchase. The guy I got it from is super friendly! I told him all about what I plan to do with it to fix it and he was super cool, not mad about it. I am pretty positive it is either the grounds needing cleaned and/or the TIPM. The codes it sends off just went off recently. I also noticed the car seemed like the battery was a little low because it was sitting for about a month while I was away on business and the valve cover was off. After I got back I put it together again; and it took a few slower engine turns before it started. I have another 2007 naturally aspirated PT Crusier, base model, kinda like yours and it always starts right up. And that one has three times the mileage and still runs great! There is like five codes it sends when it spazzes out. Transmission control module low voltage was one. I think I had an ECU low voltage, and other similar codes saying something was wrong with random stuff. That is a sure sign that either there is a grounding issue or the TIPM, or both. Or maybe the low battery is causing the TIPM to exacerbate an issue in one of its relays. I don't think it has anything to do with the computer, because the computer comes after the protection from the TIPM, it's smart logic circuit boards and sometimes faulty relays built into the circuit boards (not protected by fuses mind you). It could also be a loose connection to the computer though, but that seems less likely since the dealership already replaced the computer and then gave up (but reseated those connectors and still got the same codes), saying to the previous owner "to part the car out." Literally so many of these cars probably go to the junk yard because people don't know that these are false positive codes a lot of times. But, with 1.3 million of these made, it makes sense why we see soo many there. First, I am going to clean all the grounds thoroughly and then spray with electrical terminal protection spray. And drive it for awhile and see if the codes come back. If they do, then I will know it's the TIPM. My TIPM in the other PT had problems until I replaced it. Good news, there is so many PT's in the junk yard that TIPM's are pretty readily available 😀 Then I have myself a 7k to 9k dollar car. That's why I feel soo blessed by this 😌

Yeah, immediately after the flush in the video the car still sounded a little rough. But it could have just been that it needed to bring thicker oil back up to the cam lobes. After driving it a little while it sounds better than I have ever known this car to sound since I've owned it at 200k miles. No weird idle hesitations. I honestly think if I got a compression check done, it would probably be around 150 to 160 on each cylinder now (I can see if my friend has a compression guage). It idles like it's brand new. And it has 235k miles 😆. Runs amazing, like it can go to 300k or 400k now.

@@Tommikegetitright101i Honestly, I am starting to think these ethanol fuels they put in most gas stations is the culprit for a lot of our issues long term. @Chid Von They are cheap to start with, that's the main reason. But then they are also very simple vehicles, especially if you have a manual GT turbo version. The 5 speed manual in the turbo version is already capable of taking a lot of heat. Remove the muffler, put on a bigger turbo, bigger head and larger cams. Add wider front tires. Do a little air intake restriction removal and lastly add a tune. There you go! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn63i359p7mta5Y

So, I just want to leave a comment for anyone watching this video. My dad recommended to me not to use emery cloth or sand paper to try to smooth the one rough cam lobe because it would let sand and metal particle debris down into the cylinders and he said the car would be fine the way it was. So I didn't do anything besides clean it since that seemed like a good idea to not do that. I thought I put something in this video about that, but noticed I didn't.

@@SlowSpyder You probably could either try putting some AT-205 into her or doing an engine flush. I just did one on my hardtop PT Cruiser and it feels like the compression is probably perfect now. Sometimes a slow bit of oil can either get past the valve stem seals when they get old (AT-205 can help) or some gunk buildup gets around the piston and oil rings, which a lot of people think you have to rebuild the engine, but you can just do an engine flush instead and that usually can work. This keep the oil from slowly getting past the oil ring as much and burning up in the cylinders. It is usually a slow enough loss that you can't see blue smoke out the tail pipe, but you can sometimes smell a strong oil smell out the tailpipe either on startup and/or when it's running normally up to temp. I personally believe when they switched to low compression rings in vehicles around the mid 2000's and then combine that with ethanol fuels, it has contributed to a lot of the problems we see today with vehicles consuming more oil.
