I am so kicking myself that I exchanged this size router for the smaller compact one awhile back. Have yet to use it because I still need and elipse jig. I changed it because the size of this one in your video i found heavy, which is silly too because for cutting circles and ovals I only need to guide it not lift the thing. It seems the small router can only do a limited size of elipses. at leas as far as the rockler brand is. Also the various attachments such as this one you show. So now I"m thinking just buy this size again and have both and use the smaller router for when I need the ligher weight for certain projects. I was shocked though at how heavy this model is.

I am on my second Triton Router. After two years, the first one failed with symptoms you have described. I ordered the second one because I was in the middle of a critical customer project when it failed. I am now on my second Triton and it too just failed with again the same problem. This time with your fantastic video as an aid, I will be fixing both of them. That way I have a backup because almost certainly this will be an ongoing problem. Thanks so much for the videos. One question. In part two, the brushes appeared to be already installed and I don't think they were in at the end of Part 1. I am assuming you installed them off camera after the disassembly and then just left them installed when your part arrived. Is this correct?

Try adding a sacrificial piece of wood next to it. It will help level off the base and increase your vacuum .

I have a mofo001 that the speed control broke on. I loved it mounted in my table but it started changing speeds on its own. It would suddenly speed up scary high then slow back down. The replacement part is so expensive I have to consider replacing it. It seems to be a common problem by the comments I have seen. I bought it at the Woodworking show maybe 10 years ago. I may buy a new model at Rockler but would like to know if that problem has been resolved before spending that much.

This exact part has already broken three times on my Triton. I just fixed it again and your video reminded me what to do, thanks for that! I think it's a shame that Triton has reinstalled the part made of plastic in the following model, the Triton tra002.

hey I know this vid is 5 years old but i still felt compelled to let you know that you dont have to deal with dewalt directly if you want a new power cord. I literally just typed in " dewalt router dw618 power cord" and I had 15+ results on ebay. And this rule applies to nearly every appliance in existence that has add ons. I too forget sometimes that you can find almost anything between ebay and amazon.

It would be helpful if you took the time to read the manual so you understand the features of the tool before you reviewed it.

I'm used to larger, corded routers kzbin.infoUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.

Listen man, I have never owned a router before. But I had a new door that needed to be hinged, so now was as good as any time to bring one home and learn. But that guy who reads directions...that's some other guy. I need to just put my hands on things and figure them out. But what with the router, the plunge base and the fence all being new at he same moment...man there were so many knobs and screws to put in and adjust that this thing may as well have been a space ship. So I grabbed your video here. hehe...yeah, I am an idiot...because I had the fence on backwards. Picture it. If you don't know how it works and you put it on backwards and then start trying to figure it out...hahahaha...it seemed to make no sense whatsoever. But it really was this simple, after seeing you do it. Thanks bro

I just bought this exact kit. What a piece of junk! The motor is fine but everything else is terrible. There was no 1/2 inch collet I had to adjust both the fix and plug base tension latches. Neither one when locked would hold the router in place. The extra base plate that accepts larger bits only fits the fixed base. I will be returning this and sticking with Bosch.

Thanks for this video, this helped me fix the problem I had with my Triton router. After a year it would drop anytime I would try to make an adjustment with the fine adjustment knob. I opened it up as you have shown here and I saw there was dust caked on the orange plastic cog wheel shown at 2:30, the micro release. It also looks a bit worn. Because of that it would not slide in to the metal gear properly and the whole assembly would slide over the axis. After a good cleaning it works better, but I will need to replace the part as well.

The armature in mine burnt out, ordered a new one and relaced it..... these engineers need some more schooling. Before you can remove the armature you need to remove a thin plastic cup like insulation bowl that is held in place with a thin O ring (almost) . Got it out using a very thin flexable flat steel tool kind of like a feeler gauge. What a pain in the*****.Putting it back was a fun event..... not! Anything else breaks & it goes in the trash!
