You have no idea how long & hard I’ve been looking for pictures of feltham highstreet shopping centre from the late 1990s. I was born in 1995, feltham born & raised. I used to go kwik save with my mum & auntie every week as a kid. Pure nostalgia! When I was that young, everything memory wise seems so vague. This really took me back & gave me a perfect picture again. You’re the only one on here with pics like this unfortunately! Thankyou so much! If anyone has images of the shopping centre from the 1990s please let me know!

I grew up in Feltham and remember how nice it use to be many moons ago and the different shops pubs that were there. I use to fish in the pond as well when I was growing up. I moved out of the area about thirty years ago and how much it has changed and not for the better it has become an eyesore I would never move back. I think it's not just Feltham I think it is where ever you go that the planners and councils that are doing the redevelopment don't really look at what is needed they don't consider the infrastructure that is needed they put up tower blocks and new houses but don't build new hospitals doctors or dentist surgeries personally I think Feltham was better back in the 60s 70s and 80s when I was growing up and that is how I wish to remember it.

Poor old Feltham. Each generation of planners seemingly had a decade of fun without ever learning from the past. I was a paramedic at Feltham ambulance station for many years and watched the town be constantly re-designed and re-invented. When the massive new flat complex was built along the High St I was appalled. What a huge fire risk. Sad. And worrying.

Piper is a recent discovery for me, and one I'm happy I found. I watched a short documentary about him recently too. I found both him and his work to be very honest and real. He drew and painted the way he did, not for any pretentious artsy-fartsy reasons, but because he felt it was the best way to show how the subject made him feel. He was more than capable of making traditional, representational work , but chose to work this way. I hope to have the chance to view some of his work in person one day.

www.barrycleveland.com/meek.htm Joe Meek's Bold Techniques Second Edition Legendary British producer and innovative recording genius Joe Meek-the man behind the global hit “Telstar”-has become a cult figure since his death in 1967, with Meek fan clubs, CD collections, and retrospectives growing in popularity every day-and a major documentary film on the way. Although much attention has been paid to his unusual life story and tragic passing, Joe Meek’s Bold Techniques is the first book that details the methods that led to Meek’s influential hits. Written by veteran music journalist Barry Cleveland, this book takes an industry perspective on Meek’s life. It explores his 12-year professional career in great depth, with special attention paid to the equipment and techniques he used, and the effect that his work had on the people around him. Also included is a newly restored and remastered version of Meek’s extraordinary 1959 stereo album about life on the Moon, I Hear a New World, made available in its original form for the first time (via digital streaming). Responsible for many “firsts,” at least in the U.K., Meek was: • One of the first to experiment professionally with sound-on-sound overdubbing techniques (1951) • The first to put microphones directly in front of and sometimes inside sound sources (1954) • The first to intentionally overload preamplifier inputs and print “hot” signals to tape (1954) • The first to use compressors and limiters in creative rather than corrective applications (1954) • The first to build a compact spring reverb unit (1957) • The first to “flange” sounds using two synchronized tape recorders (1958) • The first to employ tape loops on commercial recordings (1959) This Second Edition of Joe Meek’s Bold Techniques updates the 2001 edition with a new Introduction, new information, an additional chapter, and newly restored audio.
