Most no-code website builder are RAM-intense. Sometimes I come to a nice website to see it is eating my RAM as a ransomware and when I examine how they are built I find it is no-code. Really fast and SEO-optimized website are custom code website even with no-code or WP in their core. No-code is a good start.

I am just over 30. I have been developing a saas product and it still needs some developing. I am about to start a family. I really want to make the saas product a world class one. But, it seems I cannot afford to have more developers. I have 3 people in tech. But, I even don't have money to continue them. I am thinking of being the solo tech guy, have a partner for sales and support, get 30% of sales amount and manage the tech. Another option is to work without a partner, hire interns for sales, marketing and support and act through them. I have also been thinking of ditching marketing, sales and further development of this pms, just provide support for current customers and try and build a software development agency for web and mobile applications, also have extra target for an industry in which I would have more experience. Finally last option is to ditch everything and go for a job that I keep as alst resort as I really wish to be a businessman I guess another thing that I can do is try and get funding. Is there any suggetsion that you would like to give to me?

The code that we write for customers belongs to them, so how would you want to reuse this code for other clients?

I don't think he meant reusing it wholesale. Perhaps, adapting parts of it to new customers' problems.
@Jakobowsky
@Jakobowsky 11 күн бұрын
Exactly, our clients also own the code. However we have ready code blocks, that we can reuse in every project and our own libraries. For example we work a lot with Amazon's SPI-API. How many different versions of getting the orders function can you write? The app logic is always custom and done from scratch, however our niche knowledge is reused through our own libraries and code blocks :)

Thanks for the video! I'm currently working on starting a software development agency for custom apps. I have a strong engineering background and don't want to spend my time building the same automations over and over again that most other tech service companies could build too, even though it seems like those are far easier to sell since they have a more direct impact on revenue or efficiency. Do you think it makes sense to purely focus on high-quality custom applications or do you consider it necessary to work on the automation/ETL stuff too since it's easier to get your foot in the door that way?

@Jakobowsky
@Jakobowsky 13 күн бұрын
I’m not sure what’s trending right now. There are many factors to consider. For example, in Poland, there is currently a significant amount of government funding going into new buildings. As a result, construction companies have plenty of money, making it worthwhile to solve their problems since they can pay immediately. Start by identifying what interests you the most, and then research that industry. Make sure to reach out to some business owners and ask them about their biggest problems - the ones they’re willing to pay to solve. From there, craft your offer to address those specific issues.

How will AI replace software when it scales? I agree AI can help with fairly basic software, but holistically and long-term I can't see how AI can currently build a scalable system. Sure, in time you'll be able to point AI to a system and it will be able to add functionality, test, deploy and maintain it. But for now? It would be a brave CTO who would rely solely on AI.
@kristianlavigne8270
@kristianlavigne8270 14 күн бұрын
You have an agent traverse the code base to build a contextual representation of the system (high level overview, diagrams etc) and this agent rebuilds affected context whenever that contextual area is changed. Then the AI can quickly get an overall understanding of the system and build out/modify more detailed functionality from there. Think fractals 😅
@DocuFlow
@DocuFlow 14 күн бұрын
@ sure. I get it. But my statement stands. You’d have to be brave to rely solely on AI for production systems. Would you gamble your job and reputation on it?
@Jakobowsky
@Jakobowsky 13 күн бұрын
I don’t think AI will be able to build a scalable system from scratch on its own anytime soon. But there are more and more tools that make it possible. For example, you can use Lambda functions that scale automatically and run multiple tasks at the same time. There are also DevOps platforms that make it super easy to scale your app. As these tools grow and AI gets smarter, you can combine them to do amazing things. If you learn how to use them well, you could handle big projects all by yourself! :)

@@Jakobowsky already doing that. I’m using Cursor, and man is it close. But not close enough. Case in point: I used Composer in cursor to add a feature, and when I deployed it destroyed the databases in all environments. Minor statement I missed. Also turns out I had backups turned off for the past two weeks, and being a team of one, neglected to remind myself. We all had a laugh 😂😭. Note: it’s not a trivial app, far from it. So the impact was real, given that I’m already a month behind.

@Jakobowsky
@Jakobowsky 16 күн бұрын
Yes, custom software development for the masses is declining. However, custom software development for large-scale solutions and unique challenges is far from dead. AI is helping to address simple issues and write basic code. Use it as leverage, but don’t be afraid. Your business needs to focus on helping others and solving their problems - this is what clients will pay for. Clients don’t care whether you use Technology X or Y; they care about finding a solution to their problem. That’s why it’s easier than ever to start such a business!

Software, for a long time has not been about coding but problem solving. If you focus more on coding and perfecting programming languages, you will most probably struggle in the market. Now, in software industry there are 2 types of businesses, speaking broadly. SAAS and Ready made software or custom solutions. If you talk about SAAS and Ready to made solutions, it includes things like Hubspot, Google Workspace, Slack, even Tinder or Uber. Yes this market is highly competitive, specially B2C products. However in B2B, if you develop a good software, businesses are always ready to pay if you're solving a problem or cutting their costs or saving them time with you solution. Coming to custom solutions, there is still a lot of potential here. Many businesses require custom software. However, in this space I often see new people making the mistake of going with offering Web Development or Flutter Develolment solution. These markets are flooded with competition. If you are new, alway offer custom solution for something which not many software agencies are offering.

And like I said before، AI can help you speed things up but it can never to analytical thinking, problem solving and creative work. AI can still not write perfect code infact, humans are still required. Even if AI writes code, humans are still required to implement them, depoly them and so much more. And even to write code with AI، a human being with technical knowledge is required 😂۔ The only thing AI has done is that where 100 developers were required، now 75 or 80 may be required۔
