Biologist and Geaologist have made a lot of progress since the ninetenth century. They don't use depth anymore to define fossils, they use the age of the layer to define fossil. Fossil traces of life have been found in layers as old as 3 billions years. Coal and Oil are fossils of organic materials that have been in the presure cookers build by the Tectonic plate movement Those scientific explanations were not availaible in the nineteenth Cenutyr. Oil is not only exploited to extract fuel but also to extract the chemical precursors of Plastics. Those are the main causes of disasters waiting to happen to Mankind concocted by the sorcerer's apprentices working for the Oil Industry.

Say what you want about how much oil there is under the earths surface. That has little to do with the fact that there is a limited amout we can burn before we ruin our atmosphere and cause the earth to be uninhabitable for humans. Cronies running large oil companies don't care about that. They'll be long dead by the time our environment goes t-u. They just want to be able to continue to make big money and hoard wealth while they are still alive.

First: in the beginning, God created the heaven and earth. Period. Second: man will NEVER run out of oil. Third: oil is treated like diamonds. Hold 95% back and keep prices high. The same with oil. Fourth: the price of gasoline in North America should be 30 cents per gallon Fifth: mans soul is all about the dollar. They can never be rich enough. Sixth: the carbon capture guys should be in jail til they die. Thank you gentlemen.

@@schmidth Given the temperature conditions on Titan, along with the absence of oxygen, it's not surprising that there could be a difference between hydrocarbons on Earth and hydrocarbons on Titan (or Mars). However, your insertion of the difference between the hydrocarbons of Earth and Titan isn't relevant to the discussion that takes place on this message board. Arguing, as some do, that hydrocarbons can only be produced from the decayed remnants of previously living organisms is belied by the fact that hydrocarbons (regardless of their complexity) can be found on space bodies that have had no detectable forms of life. Petroleum oil (crude oil) is not produced from the fossils or materials of previously living organisms. It is produced due to the intense heat and pressure placed on minerals deep beneath the surface of the Earth. The same is true for bituminous and sub-bituminous coal.
@marcrauch8213
@marcrauch8213 12 күн бұрын
@@schmidth Prove what? Do you deny there's a vast difference in temperature between Earth and Titan? Do you deny that there's no oxygen on Titan? And you want me to write a book on the subject, why? There are already several great books that prove petroleum is created from the extreme heat and pressure exerted on minerals deep underground.

The story about coninig the phrase might be true, however, back in the 70's the US was the biggest importer of oil in the world (while nowadays it is a major exporter). BTW, oil extraction worldwide was predicted to peak at about year 2000 by Hubert, in the mid 50's, last century. The man was remarkably accurate, but he didn't take into account shale oil production, as fracking technology was not available back in his time. It's shale oil that allowed us to prolong peak oil. New standard well's oil discoveries practically ended. I believe experts are still battling out whether or not oil is continuously being produced in deep earth. Anyway, even if true, the extraction of that oil, so deep undergraund, will be difficult to find and very costly to extract.
@TheAutoChannel
@TheAutoChannel 18 күн бұрын
Shalom - The use of the phrase "fossil fuel" as related to petroleum oil was/is meant to pretend that there is a unique and very limited supply. It may very well be accurate to say that in the mid-to-late 1800s geologists and some others did not know the extent of oil availability around the world. However, by the very early 1900s, The British, French, and Americans knew there was lots of oil in the Mideast, and the French knew there was lots of oil off the coast of Indochina (now called Vietnam). This is why the French were so intent on recovering their Indochina colonies after the Second World War. Nonetheless, predictions about "Peak Oil" (even before it was called Peak Oil) had been made for many decades before M. King Hubbert, and all predictions of oil's extinction have been false. To me, the fact that he worked for Shell Oil, and was then a professor at both Stanford University and UC Berkeley, proves he was a stooge for the oil industry and their machinations to drive up oil prices. It was known, or strongly surmised that there was lots of oil in the Gulf of Mexico and off the coast of Brazil. Both were confirmed. It's also been long known that supposedly dry oil wells now have oil again. This is due to the fact that oil continues to be produced underground by the same natural conditions that have always produced petroleum oil. Shale oil is too expensive, too dirty, and unnecessary. Ethanol and methanol should replace many of the needs for oil.
