I’m currently facing an issue with my GH5 and could really use your expertise. The mode dial has become stuck and non-functional. Before disassembling the device, I carefully checked the manual and confirmed that the mode dial was not locked, as the lock button was not pressed. After disassembling the top unit and replacing the button, I'm struggling to reassemble it correctly. Specifically, I’d like to know: How many 1.5mm bearing balls should be placed under the mode dial? Where exactly should the springs be positioned, and how many are required? After reassembling everything, the mode dial spins freely without engaging, and the middle screw turns without any resistance. If anyone has experience with this issue or knows the correct assembly process, your tips and guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I know this is an old video but what do you think is the better camera between the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX8 and the Panasonic DMC-FZ2000 for video ?
@GrahamHoughton12

@@JohnonaBike the FZ2000 being a bridge camera designed specifically for this purpose does make sense. Very smooth and controlled powered zoom is far superior to any manual zoom on lenses on the GX8. Very quick to change focal length for convenient shooting different scenes. Audio monitor for headphones is a plus on the 2000. EVF on the 2000 is much bigger and brighter. Adding Lenovo the GX8 becomes an expensive option.

@GrahamHoughton12 Thank you for the quick reply... So even though the DX8 has a bigger sensor so should be better in low light you would recommend the FZ2000

If you were in the market for a second hand bridge camera which would you buy a FZ200 or FZ72. Both can be bought off MPB for between £100 and £200 or do you suggest any other camera? Many thanks for all the great videos.

I just purchased this camera, I am a total beginner. We are going on a safari and truly bought this camera in order to get great photos using the 60x zoom. Is there a particular setting you would recommend for a great wildlife shot and experience . Love you videos. I have learnt so much in a short time re basics of this camera.

Well having been an owner of the DMW-LT55E with the correct adaptor DMW-LA8GU which is a 1.7 teleconverter this that you show certainly isn't that and even though you say that you found an equivalent tele...you really didn't! The drop in quality with 3rd party tele's is so noticeable (day & night), even thought the difference in figure is 60x going to 102x magnification sounds alot it's not that much visually but it is if you pixel-peep. But you really shouldn't have the LT55 in the title if that's not what you're using....as a fellow Brit...it's not right.

Thank you for the demonstration. I am trying to build a rig to film disc golf content. I use a rolling cart and have a phone mount on top of the handle. I’m using my iPhone. I’d like to use that usb c splitter, an ssd, a battery pack in case I’m out filming long rounds to plug in when my phone gets low, and a rode mic. Do you think there would be any issues. Ideally, I need a way to have all of those peripherals close to the phone mount. I was thinking about getting some Velcro straps to hold things onto the pole close to the top. The only issue I see is sometimes I need to rotate my phone 180 degrees on the mount to get a shot since my cart will be better positioned on hill sides. Currently it’s not an issue as I have the receiver plugged in only via usbc and the receiver itself clipped to its own cord so it’s free to swivel

I got through the set up fine but this is HARD you keep saying if you can shut off the image stabilization or if you can switch to electronic shutter Without telling US HOW TO DO THIS -- completely incompressible. Why would you tell us things like it’s got face detection telling us how to do it?!?!!! Really poor understanding of how to communicate with a beginner

I’m pleased with my Andycine c5 , I got it cheap as chips £90.. apart from the fan noise being rather annoying at full blast it’s ok if you manage it manually.. but it will be picked up if your mic is on camera. I do wish they had the arri anti rotation mount holes as it does slip and I’m worried about tightening it up too much.. battery life is definitely not good at high brightness.. and it gets bloody hot

Much more earthy colors and more natural from the 40d which people say is Canons “aps-c answer to the 5d classic” The 90d has brighter colors and sometimes the grass looked smeared out and hard to define details, almost a little AI like you see with iPhone pictures. I might be biased since I just bought a 40d but to me it’s the winner.

Fair comment Graham. Yes when you have security cameras, door bell video, printers etc etc all fighting for some of that speedy broadband. It certainly slows things down and like you say there is the security aspect. You hear of hackers accessing company internet via some dormant printer that they didn’t even know was connected🤔

Graham. Not wanting to sound clever, but would it not be just easier to use a smart bulb. I have a basic one and you can change all sorts on it i including brightness, colour, warmth etc etc. cost £8 and works with Alexa or a specific app

Thank you so much. I have had my electronics lab since I was 12 years old. Now I'm 54 and I still have my electronics lab. I'm building this. I want to be able to charge my watch and Bluetooth earpiece. And yes I did build the Christmas tree from Amazon 🎄. That was a fun build.☺️☺️☺️ I so miss Poptronics Magazine formally Popular Electronics magazine. My heart is broken 💔.

So you didn't test these yourself to see how long they last in something like a remote? You just quoted the manufacturers numbers? I have 2 different PP3 Li-Ion 'batteries' and the quiescent current is quite high, they lose all charge after a couple of months and have quite a low maximum current output so have a very niche usage. Oh and I would only use these in a torch if I had a spare fully-charged set in my pocket - or even a spare torch! Eneloops or primary cells give you plenty of warning by dimming whereas these could suddenly leave you in the middle of a very dark minefield with no light.
@GrahamHoughton12
@GrahamHoughton12 11 күн бұрын
You are right in saying the cut off is instantaneous with no "usual" warning by the device that the cut off is near by a dimmer light in the case of a torch or a capacity indicator. I haven't found a use for these cells beyond using them where it doesn't matter when they expire to be honest not a very good purchasing choice.

Does this method only work with LED drivers which don't have a feedback circuit to maintain a constant LED current over a wide range of supply voltages?
@GrahamHoughton12
@GrahamHoughton12 13 күн бұрын
That's right most of the cheaper non-dimmable only have a basic capacitive dropper and rectifier/current limiter resistor with no compensation for voltage fluctuation.

Hi Graham, 7 years late! Trying this for my G3/G7, I purchased a DMW-DCC12 by mistake so took it apart and it was just a tiny circuit board with two 102 surface mount resistors, so not much! Does your circuit board have any components on it? TFS, GB :)
@GrahamHoughton12
@GrahamHoughton12 11 күн бұрын
Yes the "official" Panasonic adaptor just has the 102 surface mount resistors across +/- so remove those and just add 10k (103) resistor to add the feedback for capacity indication in the camera.

One question for you, I own a Hohem iSteady M6, and I'm wondering if it could carry an action camera, like the test you did with the Hohem iSteady V3. Also, which action camera would you recommend, as I'm looking to buy one for the first time?
@GrahamHoughton12
@GrahamHoughton12 11 күн бұрын
Without a doubt you can mount the action camera on the M6. As to which one that is a difficult choice I have the Osmo Action and 3 GoPro models but it depends on whether gathering external audio is a requirement as they need extra kit to do that.
