Brilliance of razor sharp dialogue. Genius of masterful acting. And outstanding lighting and use of shadow makes this scene a template of what movie making is really.

This one scene alone is enough to establish it yet again that Peter Sellers was indeed an acting genius. A masterful performance here.

Or all you'd have to do is listen to Roger Stone for 5 minutes and you get the same performance with the same ideas. When I was seven I remember the teacher having us get under our chairs which would 'protect' us from the 'nuclear blast.' Here's the funny part: My father became a 'Certified Fallout Shelter Analyst' who had plans of building a backyard shelter for his family at the time, (he was a Professional engineer with a real job, by the way), and he gave up on those plans because he realized it would fail to save anyone, and that any 'protection' from nuclear war was a pipe dream. That was in 1963. Based upon conversations with my father, 'common knowledge' at the time, and later on, some revelations of actual plans made by our government, I realized that most people at that time had no idea how accurate that movie was in depicting the level of ignorance, outright insanity and hubris of the people making these decisions and in control of forces they still don't have the wisdom to harness. While I am somewhat surprised that we are not now living in a post-nuclear world with 'no-go' areas and a cripppled world economy with all of the potential cancers still raging, we are now in a situation where the profoundly ignorant are soon to be leading the government with their 'mandate' and we may be in an increased likelihood of such a scenario, rather than having learned something which would deter this from occurring.

You know, I never thought about it before, but I love how there's absolutely no reaction to all the difficulty with his hand throwing up nazi salutes, trying to choke him, etc. I guess everyone is just so used to it that it's completely normal to watch.
