for the application you don't need the bank statement but once you apply for the student visa at the embassy you will need the bank statement or else they will turn you down. If you get a scholarship it is sufficient to show proof that you got a scholarship as far as i know

Sadly actually it seem mandatory. In the Spring Admissions Guide 2021 a bank statement showing that you have a minimum balance of 20.000$ (so even more than the embassy asks for) is required to apply to Ewha Womans University. I was confused myself as I don't exactly understand why they would need scholarships if anyone can proof they are rich af, but it might just be smth for foreigners...

I'm confused with this too. I'm planning to apply for scholarship because obviously I can't afford to study abroad. And some university requires a bank statement. Should the scholarship provide this?

You may find at the Official Ewha Website an information about the bank account submission waiver. If your GPA is high enough to match the requirements, you may send documents without submitting info about the 20k$. I did so, and everything is okay. If you won't get the scholarship (info 24 dec), it's needed to submit bank acc info yill the 28 dec. If you got the scholarship, no need in this)

Hello! Thank you for the question! From what we can confirm with an English Language and Literature student, it's roughly half-half. Most are in English but some are in Korean, but one thing for sure is that the texts are definitely in English! Additionally there is an "English lectures only" semester where all major courses must be held in English. Hopefully that answered your question! :)

Hello! In response to your question: Yes, it is indeed possible however there are many things you need to consider. 1. Scholarships: The tuition on top of having money for your daily needs will place a huge burden on your wallet. So the school does have scholarship opportunities but you must be attentive to the dates and deadlines as it is hard to acquire. Thus you must think hard of your ideal major and TOPIK level as scholarships are already limited to just those as criteria (not including GPA). For the first semester however, it may be difficult to apply for a scholarship as you would need a GPA basis in the Ewha system to apply. As for notification of the scholarship applications, it can be found in notice boards online (such as the link below) and emails sent to you (however there are times when you may not be notified through email so it would be best if you frequently checked with the OIA (Office of International Affairs) in regards to this). Here is the site in regards to the scholarships available for foreigners this year: cms.ewha.ac.kr/user/indexSub.action?codyMenuSeq=11290&siteId=oga&menuUIType=top 2. Part-time Job: It is advised that you have at least around $10,000 to start with for living expenses as it may be hard to find a job as soon as you arrive to Korea due to the changing of laws for student visa workers leading to a higher chance of being deported! One part-time job is sufficient depending on how much you would like to spend but it may be difficult to find a job for the first few months, unless you're lucky! 3. Dorms or Goshiwon This is another important factor to consider as this is your shelter! The Ewha Dorms may be considered pricey depending on what kind of room you get. If you are accepted into the dorms freshmen year, you are ensured a 1 year stay. But since the room allocations are random, some people have looked for Goshiwons which are mainly for students on low budgets! They are cheaper alternatives for students and most of them are located close to the school! Another alternative to this is if you could find another friend in Ewha who you could share rent with! 4. Other things such as insurance Not an absolute must, but is recommended in case of emergencies. You will be coming to a new country with a new language/culture, not to mention the weather changes that you would need to adapt to (a.k.a the fine dust). So it would be safer to at least consider adding to your financial plan! (Talking over with your parents/guardian and getting their opinions on the matter would be the best method!) Hope that helps!
