while I'm not a technician, I've had one of these for three years. To clean it, turn off the power (breaker), to the unit. Once you are certain the power is off, turn off the water supply to the unit. Unplug the water sensing probe at the bottom pan and remove the pan. Remove the bottom of the pot by unbuckling the clip around the unit and pull it straight down and off. I clean the pot and the probes with vinegar and a Scotch pad. Re-assemble, turn the water back on and then the power. The unit should fill, drain, fill again and start heating. These instructions are available with the manual which can be downloaded.
