Rumour has it that the airs above the ground were originally battle manouvers. The rider could have his horse kick out at an enemy, jump through them on his hind legs, or half pass toward the enemy so the rider's sword could be used. It was even possible to go into battle without a bridle. What happened to advanced horsemanship? I'm not targeting this specific video. You cannot see one video of a mordern horse doing a ridden courbette or capriole with a rider in control of the exercise instead of some guy on the ground. I understand the horse learns the exercise on the ground first, but why has no one progressed? Everything tends toward decay, they say. Now we have tanks, there is no need to train our horses battle skills. Even the Spanish rding school has deteriorated into rollkur and poorly proven, ineffective modern techniques.

Hijos de babieca. El mejor caballo en la batalla .del CID Campeador ". Siempre estuvo a su lado. Incluso después de muerto el CID. ganaron su ultima batalla . El caballo pura raza ANDALUZA. El q nunca se rinde asta reventar .noble como un cachorro .fiero como un león !

Ron Wylie I have been to Jerez, Spain and witnessed these magnificent people and the horses they love. The horses are wanting to please their masters.
