Astoria Pratic Avant, Simonelli Appia II. We’ve heard good things on the Lucca but haven’t tested it. Obviously a new Linea Mini is out but you can get a refurb. It’s doable. We do it literally every month.

Voltage fluctuates give or take 10v due to all sorts of reasons. So, it’s a range, not an exact number. So for all intents and purposes, when someone mentions 110v, it’s synonymous with 120v

It's volts... Not power. The machine will take whatever power it needs to run. You shouldn't even mention power. Commercial units usually run on 220VAC because that's usually available in a commercial establishment. A typical usage in a residential application or reception hall will be a standard duplex receptacle which is 110. Or 120/240... Depending.

More voltage also means more power though. Double the volts means double the wattage for the same number of amps. If you're not going to be running more wattage, why bother making a higher voltage machine? Granted, it might not be double but its still going to be higher with the 220v over the 110v.

Not to mention its ridiculous to use the 220v as "what's available in commercial kitchens". If you have 220v, you have 110 available as well. 220v in north America is just two phases (two hots). 110v is just one hot to neutral. You could easily 110v from 220v if you needed it. Its not like its some exotic thing. Its not like they are running 480v, which plenty of industrial equipment runs on. Plenty of things that run on 480v could have been made to run on 220v, but you would need to run much thicker wire to handle it.

Voltage of course is the potential difference between two power sources in which the electron displacement between two points within the circuit can be used to generate power. However, it’s a whole lot easier to refer to it as “power”.

@radioactive unfortunately 240v machines will not operate with 120v machines. And if you try to plug in a 120v into a 240v outlet, you’ll fry your motherboard. This is coming from experience.

@@GreenJoeCoffeeTruck well. Yeah. Voltage itself isn't power but higher voltage allows for higher wattage. They are related, but voltage is just one component of wattage. You can have a higher voltage appliance that uses less wattage than a lower voltage one. Its just not usually the case.

220 just means you use less current 110 or 220 won’t necessarily mean anything

When talking about current, I usually refer to amps. Here in the US, most 220v are high amps (high current) appliances. We use 120v for lower amps appliances .
