I own both. They are both great. If I could only own one guitar though it would be the J45. It’s a superior guitar for a singer- songwriter because the notes decay more quickly. It also has that “thump” in the bass. The J45 also has a shorter scale too. It’s easier to play.

Do you know the difference between FG180 and FG180J? Is the J made in Japan and the 180 made in Taiwan or something? Thanks.

FG180 was produced from the 60s to the early 70s, and the 180J model was produced after that. It is not clear that the 180J model is made in Japan, but the 180 is made in Japan as I know.

제가 중간에 잠시 갖고 있던 모델이네요!! 갑자기 알고리즘에 떠서 보게 될 줄이야... 영상 올라온 이후에 잠시 거쳤던 모델인데 핑거가 아주 예술이었던 기억이 있네요. 스트로크는 픽업으로 뽑았을때 참 예뻤습니다ㅎㅎ 테일러 7번대, 특히 싱커탑은 화려함보다는 단아함을 강조한 것 같네요~

Thanks for watching! This Atkin 00037 has a tight and sharp tone and Martin 000-28 has a more soft and mellow sound IMO.

He’s actually picking exactly where you wanna pick. You pick right where the sound hole starts. You don’t pick over the sound hole.

Doesn’t sound good in my ears. Tones are too thin and lifeless. He does play well but this guitar has poor tones.

Gibson scooped mids ,punchy bottom ,delicate highs ,quick note decay, warm sparkly non obtrusive strum Taylor prounced upper mids ,weak bottom,harsher highs, long note decay, bright in your facestrum Martin pronounced lower mids, muddy bottom, thick highs, moderate to long note decay, warm but noticeable strum.

Both brands I love. Yamahas definitely have more consistency. I have played Taylors of same model, close in serial number and been astounded by the difference. Always try before you buy with Taylor!

One thing to note with these is the wood, the Taylor uses Sapele which is similar to mahogany, whereas the Yamaha uses rosewood! Sapele/mahogany is a bit warmer and smoother while rosewood is brighter and punchier!
