@@skoc340 Oh I'm sure it is a lot of fun and I won't knock anyone who enjoys it, but for me personally I think I prefer the realistic flight model and comfy simplicity of Pioneer, at least until certain other hardcore space sims come out.

It would be a real dream to be able to have even small, sometimes hostile alien life forms, making exploration more dangerous and unpredictable. I have both Star Citizen and Starfiled, the first is too poorly optimized and is really too cumbersome, the second is something that perhaps between dozens of dlcs and updates and mods could be playable, now it's just an Oblivion in space which frankly I can't just to enjoy it. in the end....Elite Dangerous is the best space simulator in existence today! you're right, the perfect game would be a mix between ED and starfiled, but despite everything, for me, landing on a distant, desolate, cold and immense planet is still a great emotion. I know we all want dangerous creatures, hostile environments, caves and wreckage to explore, but we don't have any. Who knows, maybe in the future we will have all this in an ED2? for now, let's enjoy the view ❤️

No point. Starfailed - aka cutscene simulator - always has been and always will be an inferior game. It's designed to be an inferior product at it's core - not a competitor. I would rather that Star Citizen impliments some of the ED mechanics. ED still to date has the best and most user intuitive interface for example. Star citizen has unparalleled details and immersion. I would rather imagine if you combine both games XD

Just to note, you only need 4 probes for both 6 and 7 probe planets. One straight at the centre front, one over the back to cover that and one each side on the lower quarters... Always works for me. And you only need 90% coverage to give it enough to fully probe the planet.

I'll have to try that. For the 6, I usually do top horizon, center front, bottom horizon, then left & right side with the circle just past the horizon line.​@user-kk1gj7dx2l

I do 4 probes in a square around the 'equator' dashed line, one smack dab in the middle and one at the center back point. The back one is hardest to hit, but for 6-probe planets it's about 50% of the way from the dashed line to the edge of the 'miss' zone (and further towards the miss zone on larger planets). I believe that gives the best coverage, you're essentially wrapping the planet in a cube. I successfully scanned 6-probe planets like that before I had any engineering on my scanner. PS. you can send the back-probe first because it's going to travel the longest, that way the entire scan finishes a few seconds sooner.

20k from beagle point? man you are a true explorer! but in your shoes, I would never have faced such an exciting and dangerous journey without my old and rusty DBX! 😂 Jokes aside... I prefer small ships for long voyages, I feel like I'm saying, less alone and safer than I could feel inside the long decks and hundreds of cold steel rooms of an Anaconda. My DBX is my cozy home in the dark

I definately agree that an Anaconda feels wrong way out in the black. All those empty seats I guess. Spend an hour trying to dock an SRV into a Conda on a rough surface moon and you will definately appreciate a small ship! 😄 The DBX is maneuverable, runs cold, has great visibility, and none of its shortcomings really matter. The small fuel scoop just means you need to scoop while you scan (try to sit perpendicular to the orbital plane so you get line of sight on all the planets. Synthesis and the DSSA mean repair module space beyond one good AFMU doesn't mean much. The only jump range threshold that matters is 42LY for plotting between galactic arms and getting to Salome's Reach. I have never once used any of those fancy scanners for anything other than poking space coral at a lagrange point. The DBX is probably the best exploration ship and your videos do a great job of showing what it can do.

yes on planets with rarefied atmosphere, don't expect clouds or atmospheric agents but you will see magnificent horizons

@@K.Marx48 look I highly recommend you upgrade your hardware to enjoy the immersion to the fullest. You could reduce the graphics to a minimum but it still wouldn't guarantee you a fluid and immersive experience. It doesn't require an extremely powerful PC but certainly more than when it was running before the Odyssey expansion

@@skoc340 Well I ran the base game smoothly with an rtx 2060 12gb and an i3 12100f, not powerful hardware indeed, pretty mid but still works for most games

They aren't limpets. They are detailed surface scanning probes. (You don't need to purchase them and they take no cargo space.)
